“Continual Mercy”
Psalm 23:6; Ephesians 2:4
It is not good to dwell in the past of the pleasures of sin, or on the things we wish we should have done. Words we should or shouldn’t have spoken. But it is good to look back in the past and reflect on the mercies of God. It is actually spiritually healthy to look back on past experiences, not to try to relive them, but to build upon them and confirm more solid convictions.
Look how merciful God was when He brought you through that illness that you and others thought was so critical, it was His hand that touched you. Look back at the times you were in financial difficulties, and He held to His promises; “I’ll never leave you nor forsake you," and He supplied your need and then some. Look back at that time you were in trouble and there was no way out, didn’t our Mighty God deliver you? Don’t ever forget where you could have been, had it not been for a merciful God. Have not all of your needs been met? Then it is a fair assumption to believe that God will meet the need of the hour, Amen!
Though today your circumstances seem darker than ever, just look back at the mercies He has adorned you with in the past trials of life, and light will glow over the horizon and the shadows will disappear with new morning brightness. We can call on God to remember His tender mercies and loving kindness for they have been forever and will continue to be for His children.
“Remember Mercy”
O Lord, remember to do as you said,
To care for the living among the dead;
Your mercy is strong, and your love is so sweet,
To set up-right the down-fallen feet;
Your kindness was shown in days gone by,
It is not a matter of asking why;
Just mount up my friend, and away we will fly.
