Job 11:15-17 ~ 15 For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear: 16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away: 17 And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning. KJV
Poor Job. I venture to say that none of us have had to stand before 10 coffins, the destruction of all that God had blessed you with and the heartache that comes with it all! But even ONE coffin can bring devastation to our lives. Everything changes at that point in life. Whether it be a spouse, child, loving friend, the loss is so painful. During these hard times, many people try to offer comfort by saying, it will get better with time. I have lost loved ones, and it has gotten better over time. That is life, right? But that misery and pain we are in at that moment, whether it stays a week, a month, or years makes us want to strike out at that person who just wanted to help! That also is nature.
But I got a new insight as I read of Job's misery again after his great loss, and that is in verse 15 where the Word of God says, "Because thou shalt forget thy misery. . ." okay, I will forget. I remember when I didn't think I would get over my dad's and Mom's homegoing's. I was heartbroken, but here in Job I saw something brand new. I will recall it as the ". . .waters that pass away. . ." And as time goes along, as the river continues to flow, my vision for the future will return. and if we are blessed, I will ". . .shine forth. . ." the goodness of God.
Again, the Word of God reveals His every care for us in these verses. He never left Job, and Job proved his love for God by not forsaking his first love for him and giving in to his misery. May we learn something that will help us today to continue to walk in the Light of the World, to shine as ambassadors of the King, to share the Gospel with whoever comes before us, doing as God commanded.
Thank you all for continuing to pray for us and our housing situation. We are comfortable and happy in the light of God. He is our guide and protector in times of trouble. Is He yours?
