January 15 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

 “Our Slackless Father”

II Peter 3:9

When we get saved, God gives us a checking account, with unlimited assets. He promises us with drawing power and privileges. What do you need? I will supply it He says. What do you want? I am here, go ahead, make a withdrawal, the coffers are full. When God makes a promise, you can depend on it; Ask with sincerity and trust, and it is done. He is God and He cares for His children.

A father loves to hear His children ask Him for help, to talk to him and seek for answers to the mysteries of life, it pleases him to watch our delighted faces as we learn and accept His answers and respond to them in obedience.

You cannot make God poor, you can’t discourage him, nor aggravate him with silly questions; to a caring father, there are no silly questions. He may smile and say, “just keep on asking, you’re not wasting my time, I made the beginning and I’ll be here through the ceaseless ages of eternity.”

Our Father is most reasonable, it is much better to reason with Him, than to reason with  a deceptive devil, that’s out to destroy you; soul, body and spirit. (Isaiah. 1:18). Go to God and remind Him of His promises. “Do as thou hast said.” (II Samuel. 7:25) And God says, “...even as thou wilt.” You can’t over persist in asking, your reminding Him does not worry Him, and His delight is to grant favors. We hesitate and linger in asking, but He anxiously waits to respond to our trusting Him. God’s promise is, what He says, He will do. Go to Him, now!

“Asking and Receiving”

Lord, do as you said you would,

It’s not wrong for me to expect it.

I cry to you with a broken heart,

and your promise is, you’ll accept it.
