July 1 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“The Prison of Stubborn Self Will”
Matthew 5:26; Hebrews 12:6-7

The Holy Spirit guards everything about me: He stops me, He starts me, He guides me in places unbelievable, He teaches me, and He lives in me, not in part but in fullness. I therefore have the power to judge myself and rise above every storm. If I’m convicted about something and do nothing about it, blessings will be withheld, and chastisement is soon to follow; What child would not want to please his father in obedience? When I’m floundering around in myself, stubborn and overwrought in circumstances, the Spirit reminds me of my position and disposition about it. It is then put on display, so I can get in the right relation with God.

To be right with God, there can be nothing standing between me and Him, and when I realize there is, I must at once rid myself of it. When the Holy Spirit tugs at my heart, and says, you ought to do so and so, then I must do it now. If I wait until I think things are right, or wait until it gets better, I have allowed my own thinking to hinder the process of obedience. I’m therefore going backward instead of forward, and I have decided that it is better to go forward with God.

“Security”

The devil, with his tricks

Will haunt,

But with Christ’s blood,

We’ve been bought;

Liberty’s not doing as we want,

But only as we ought.

Weekly Memory Verses:  Ephesians 2:1-5

1 ¶And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 ¶But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

May 2, 2023 ~ LKMilam May 2023 Devotions: Fruitful

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Genesis 1:28 ~ 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. KJV

Verse 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. I think we needed the preceding verse to determine who God is telling them to ". . . Be Fruitful . . ."

From the beginning God created male and female. From the beginning there was no corruption on earth. But when it came, satan attacked the home, the woman in her weakness caught up with power of what satan what said, disobeyed God and her husband, Adam. From the beginning there was a struggle, yet God knew and still He made man and woman for the purpose of creating life. Every piece of our body was wondrously made, and we are still today recreating ourselves in our children. For this I am forever grateful. Our daughters are our joys Our grandchildren the icing on the cake and whether they realize it or not they are continuing to fulfill God's original design of fruitfulness.  God has a plan, and we are truly blessed to be entrusted with creation and the responsibility of protecting it as humans.

I am thankful every day that I am a woman, and I have the privilege to be the wife o my husband. Thank you, again dear God, for your goodness to me and mine.

April 24, 2023 ~ LKMilam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. KJV

Jesus said it so that there could be no mistake what He meant. He is the ideal of shepherd-like care for the people of God as illustrated in the Old Testament and in that culture. What Jesus described as a good shepherd is actually a Holy Sacrificial Shepherd. Shepherds may take risks for the safety of the sheep, but it is probably rare to find one who would willingly die for their sheep.  Jesus gave His life up for the sheep/the people He loved so much so that we could have life everlasting! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He is giving his life still. The life that is in the man Christ Jesus He is always giving for us. It is for us He lives, and because He lives, we live also. He lives to plead for us. He lives to represent us in heaven. He lives to rule providence for us.” (Spurgeon)

Do you know Him Lost person? Do you know that the Great Shepherd is also our Amazing Saviour of the world? That means that every living soul can be saved! If you are alive today, you still have an opportunity to be saved and secure your eternal resting place in heaven! O that you would heed the call. If you are reading this, it is not by accident! It is God planned! The Bible tells us clearly what we must do to be saved!

Come to him in repentance of your sin, in belief take Him as your personal Saviour, ask Him to forgive your sin and come into your heart and save you . . . you will never be the same again! To God be the glory!

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

 “The God of Impossible Things”
Joshua 3:17

We probably will face many “Jordans” in our lives, those seemingly impossible things. Simply because Jesus faced up against all odds and utter impossibilities. But as long as we have our eyes on Jesus, in trusting and believing, we have power to conquer and overcome any hostile power that works against us. Everything that the devil has, has been thrown at Jesus already, and he didn’t win. (Satan is a loser by the way). He doesn’t own anything, for two reasons; God is the ruler of the universe and Satan got here too late; So, he doesn’t really own anything.

Christ overcame everything that we will ever face, at the cross. We need to stay close to Jesus, be filled with the Spirit daily, and seek to know God. We have access to the throne of grace. So that we can come boldly before God and say, “here I am again Lord, with another impossible situation; but I believe that you’re God enough to get me through this.” Then your stormy trial will cease, and a gentle warm breeze will carry you safely to the other side. Get hold of God and trust His power. He will never fail.

“Step Right Through”

This thing that I face today;

O God, what must I do?

Trust, He says, take a step,

A light will shine right through.

I am there, though Jordan swells,

To make the crossing with you.

Step through the door, in faith my child;

And you will know what I say is true.

Weekly Memory Verses:  2 Peter 3:9-12

9 ¶The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 ¶Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

April 22, 2023 ~ LKMilam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:9-10 ~ 10 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. KJV

Jesus is still teaching and contrasting the Good Shepherd in comparison to the false shepherds of Israel. But the lesson is there for us as Christians today. The Word of God is "timeless" and every word, dot, or tittle was written, recorded, and conserved for Christians of all ages. Jesus knows that we would be assaulted by false teachers today. If you are or have any relationship close to God and follow the WORD of God explicitly. He will give you discernment and understanding and particularly wisdom in the need to weed out the false prophets.

As the thief, these people don't show their true inner selves. If they did, there would not be so many of God's people fooled by them. It is their goal to gain power, wealth, position for the soul purpose of uplifting themselves NOT the Lord God. They are often categorized as preachers who teach “prosperity gospel.” They supply the audience with a steady stream of feel-good vibes and promises of good things to those who please God, and very little of the whole counsel of God, preached from the Word of God. BEWARE. Trust your relationship with the Heavenly Father and His leading and guiding. Make sure you and your family are worshipping the LORD God and not some man and his position.

Your family depends on this Christian! May the Lord give us wisdom, discernment, and long days under HIS guidance through His God Called shepherd.

“The Door of Faith”
Joshua 6:20

We are faced with many walls of temptation, difficulties, tribulations and sore infirmities; And they look too hard to go through, too high to get over, too wide to go around and rooted too deep to go under; But we have access to a door. We already stand defeated trying to butt through the wall under our own power; The door of faith stands wide open, beckoning us to step through, and waiting on the other side, is Jesus to guide us to the victory. Jesus has saved us with eternal salvation, and is saving us through our trials, and will save us in future tribulations; And save us out of the storms of life. When doubts, fears, temptations, and hard times overshadow us, faith is the escape route; Christ has overcome for us, and we can shout victory going through and victory coming out the other side. When it seems there is no hope for us, remember He is our hope and our conqueror. Remember where you could have been, had it not been for Jesus; Remember the promise, “I’ll not leave you, nor forsake you.” And remember that we’re on our way home, the table is set, the Master bids us come and dine, the victory is won.

 “Faith”

There’s a wall before me,

What must I do?

Too high to go over, and I

Sure can’t go through.

But what is that I see dimly lit?

Well, it’s a doorway, I must go through it.

 What’s that written over it?

I barely can see;

The darkness of my trial,

Has almost overtaken me.

FAITH! It says the work is done.

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2  As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3  If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

4  ¶To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

April 20, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:2-3 ~ 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  KJV

The SHEEP know their Shepherd when they hear Him; I have heard this all my Christian life AND it was usually in relationship with me and my Saviour. Jesus is the true Shepherd, but Jesus is not talking about Himself here. The shepherd that comes to the sheep through the "right door" is the surrendered to God shepherd of the flock/congregation. A true shepherd comes through love, a God calling, care, and sacrificial service. God always intended that His people be led, fed, and protected by those who come in the legitimate, intended way. The door is there for a reason. Some will always climb over the barriers, but God has the barriers and the door there for a reason.

So those who do not enter by Jesus Christ into the pastoral office, is no other than a thief and a robber in the sheepfold.  "Ambition, avarice, love of ease, a desire to enjoy the conveniences of life, to be distinguished from the crowd, to promote the interests of one’s family, and even the sole design of providing against want-these are all ways by which thieves and robbers enter into the Church." (Clarke) Woe unto those who are not in pastoral position by the call of God Himself. We must be discerning of those who would come for one desire, to better self, not the flock/congregation.

Jesus is the one to follow, He is the door to enter. . . there is no other way!

April 19, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.  KJV

Jesus felt led to explain very clearly that not everyone among the sheep is a true shepherd; some are like thieves and robbers. One mark of their being a thief and a robber is how they gain entry among the sheep. The idea is that there is a door, a proper way to gain entry. Not everyone who stands among the sheep comes that way. Some climb up some other way. The religious leaders (also called shepherds in their day) gained their place among God’s people – the sheep spoken of here – through personal and political connections, through formal education, through ambition, manipulation, and corruption. They had one goal, get as much as they could from the people of God through deception.

Sadly, we have men (and some women) who are in positions of leadership leading the "sheep" who blindly follow their every word in total belief.  Jesus did not teach this lesson by accident. We are to be studied up, aware, and cautious of those who want to "lead" us through deception. It is a good thing to pray for God's wisdom and discernment in this area. If we are not careful, we may lose that very personal relationship with the Lord because of our inability to discern those that would lead us for personal gain.

When in doubt, turn to God in prayer and Bible study. He will show us the way if we really want to be taught!  He loves us!

April 18, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Matthew 26:31-32 ~ 31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.  KJV

In Matthew’s Gospel, the teaching of Jesus is finished here. In these last days leading up to His betrayal and crucifixion, He warned the multitudes about the corrupt religious leadership, and He spoke to His disciples about things to come. Now, it was time for Jesus to fulfill His work on the cross.

When Jesus was talking about His offending the disciples, He reminded them it was not to condemn them, but to show them that He really was in command of the situation, and to demonstrate that the Scriptures regarding the suffering of the Messiah must be fulfilled.

"But after I am risen again. . .: Jesus was already looking beyond the cross. He knew what they were going to do to HIM! Yet, His eyes were set on the joy set before Him:  Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I could never compare any agony in my life to the agony of the Cross, yet I can say that I will not stay in that agony. I am looking forward to the day of the returning of our Lord and Saviour. He is what I keep my eyes on. My joy is in Him, and I know where my destination is; Heaven.

Do YOU know where your final destination will be upon death OR the returning of the Saviour?  Do you know that if you were to die today you would end up in Heaven with Jesus?  Friend, if you are reading this, it is by God's design. He wants to save you, and no matter where you are, your circumstances, your sin . . . Jesus died for ALL! John 3:16, claim it as your own and be saved today!

John 3:14-18
18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Matthew 18:12-14 ~ 12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.  KJV

“Oh, how we ought to love sinners, since Jesus loved us, and died for us while we were yet sinners! We must care for drunkards while they still pass round the cup; swearers even while we hear them swear…We must not wait till we see some better thing in them but feel an intense interest for them as what they are – straying and lost.” (Spurgeon)

I love to read the "lessons" taught by Jesus Himself. In our verses today He reminds us through the one lost sheep, that every single one of us are as important to Him as the whole flock/congregation. Christians are as guilty as guilty can be sometimes, when we can't be bothered with the low, dirty, drunk, drug addict, felon, . . . Jesus here teaches us just the opposite.

We are to care for those that do not know Him, but particularly the one that is of the flock, but has strayed away into the dangerous world of sin and degradation. Don't just look and say "How sad," step up and say, "How can I reach this one and bring them back to the fold?"
Jesus showed us how. He went after the one, He caught the one, He returned the one to the fold Himself. O that we should have the compassion for the lost and the backslidden that we would be willing to step out of our "comfort zone" and reach out a hand of help, in the name of Jesus. Will we always be successful? No, I venture to say we will not. But we won't know until we GO!

God desires to help and bless us and others. Let us be the one THAT HE USES TO Reach out to person out of the fold, today! Don't turn your head, close your ears, or put on blinders when you go out today. Instead FIND, LOOK, HELP! You will be so totally blessed, and we know when we pursue that one that has strayed, in their heart of hearts, they want you to help them.

Be blessed today and let others see Christ in YOU!

April 17, 2010 ~ Our Wedding Day

On this day, April 17, 2010, 13 years ago, I said, "I do," to my husband, God, and myself. It was my two words to officially commit myself to marriage, love, honor, and respect in the name of God, to a man who promised the same thing towards me.  I can honestly say, we both have made that effort and on the whole, I believe we have succeeded. Tom has taught me more in these 13 years than I knew the previous 59 years when I lived without him. I thank God every day that we get to do this part of our lives together! I remember when we first got married, I would say, "I can't wait for our first anniversary", then I was excited to get to our 5th year and so. Today, I am looking towards the 30 years that Tom asked God to give us together here on earth before heaven. As long as we have each other I can look for that next anniversary! So many of you have been a part of our lives, as family, friends, co-workers, and even strangers. We thank you. Through our relationship and our relationship with others, you have kept us praying and trusting in our Lord, thank you.

We want to help and be a blessing to others, and through our marriage and partnership, we believe God has given us even greater opportunities to share the Gospel. Not just through Tom's preaching, but the radio station he is on 5 days a week 52 weeks of the year, the printing ministry with outreaches worldwide, one on one witnessing is one of our favorites, but through our singing, serving, pulpit filling, missions conferences, camp meetings, revivals! God is good to use us in any way He will, and we look forward to the many years before us.

Thank you, my love, for choosing me to be your wife! I love you to infinity and beyond!

April 15, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Ezekiel 34:22-24 ~ 22 Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. 23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. 24 And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.  KJV

God continues to address the "Shepherds" of His people, making sure that they know that HE is the Father of this flock. Notice the word MY in the first phrase of verse 22. We are HIS children/flock. and His children have the devine protection of their Father. God truly is the only one that can save us, keep us, guard us, and protect us. He is the one that gave us that ONE SHEPHERD that will never leave us nor forsake us! Hebrews 13:5 " . . . for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

He is the one that will provide our every need and be our Lord and Saviour for eternity. Here God is telling them of David, but for us that One is Jesus Christ His Son.  Do you know Him as your Saviour? Do you have confidence that He is the One that is our Shepherd of shepherds? God wants to care for His children, but do we as His children give Him the thanks and glory for caring us? Are we grateful every day for the moment we open our eyes in the morning and until we close them at night that He is the one that raises us up? Can you define a time in your life when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour? Where are you today then, Christian? Are you serving, loving, worshipping Him as you should?

If not, turn back to Him today. Please don't reject Him any longer, for when you refuse to make that turn in your life placing you back into His fold, you only set yourself up for self-destruction and denying of the power of God. He loves us, please love Him back!

PRAY BIG FOR OTHERS AND YOURSELF! GOD WANTS TO ANSWER OUR PRAYERS!

May 24 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“God Throws Our Sins Away, Not Our Prayers.”
Genesis 32:24-30; Psalm 66:18-20; Ephesians 6:18

Did you ever wonder why God puts up with us in our feeble ways of communication, determining within ourselves, what is an acceptable prayer and what is not? We pray certain prayers and say, surely God will hear that one, and then we pray and say, God will not answer this other one because it is so trivial. We should pour our hearts out in prayer whether they are pleasing to us or not. We should weep over the earnestness of our prayers; look how cold and indifferent we have made our so-called supplications. We should enter our prayer closet daily, not just when enormous trials come, and we are overtaken by a panic attack. We should hunger to go there for communication, to lay out our petitions, repent of our faint condition and our lack of concern. Where is that humility that is needed to care for others? Where is that faith that perseveres with believing? Can you say like Jacob of old, “I will not let you go, except you bless me.”

God does hear our feeble, weak, and cold requests as well as the fiery hot prayers that seemingly ring the rafters of Heaven. Look how God has blessed when we thought He wouldn’t, and the many times we knew we didn’t deserve it. We come to Him helplessly weeping, and He hears and comforts, and then we neglect to talk to Him and He shows mercy, what a loving, caring God we have. It is easy to pray and say thank you, when mercies are obviously plentiful, and we’re not overshadowed by many sorrows; But it is another matter when circumstances drives us to fall on our faces in agony. How is your prayer-life friend?

“Pray Without Ceasing”

Praying always is the key to success,

Not big or little, just praying is best.

“We should weep over the earnestness of our prayers.”

Bible Reading Schedule: II Chronicles 10-13

Weekly Memory Verses:  1 Peter 2:1-5

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2  As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3  If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

4  ¶To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
