April 27, 2023 ~ LKMilam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:27-30 ~ 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.  KJV

To me as a Christian I am so thankful for my salvation and the great promises written for me in the Word of God! The most precious promises may be revealed in these verses. Not only am I His, but He is mine and through Him I have eternal life, never to perish . . . but best of all no one, that means NO ONE, can pluck me from His hand! Then Jesus reveals that because He and the Father are ONE, NO ONE can pluck me from God's hand. This is the security of the Gospel. No matter what the devil wants to try to trick you with, just throw this in his nasty old face! You have been saved, secured, and guaranteed a place of pure protection.

Does it mean I am not faced with trials, no.... I am talking of my spiritual condition! Once I made that personal decision to accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, now my Saviour, I am by faith saved by grace forever more! Praise the Lord that He then recorded my name in the Lambs Book of Life, and I will one day be with Him FOREVER!

My friends, can ya'll say that? Are you sure of your salvation through Christ?  There is only one way to Heaven, and He is the Only WAY!  If you have questions, please contact me! Praying for some that were just saved at Mrs. Annie Donald's funeral services Saturday May 27th. Please pray God will help them to make right decisions in their lives for the cause of Christ.

April 24, 2023 ~ LKMilam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. KJV

Jesus said it so that there could be no mistake what He meant. He is the ideal of shepherd-like care for the people of God as illustrated in the Old Testament and in that culture. What Jesus described as a good shepherd is actually a Holy Sacrificial Shepherd. Shepherds may take risks for the safety of the sheep, but it is probably rare to find one who would willingly die for their sheep.  Jesus gave His life up for the sheep/the people He loved so much so that we could have life everlasting! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He is giving his life still. The life that is in the man Christ Jesus He is always giving for us. It is for us He lives, and because He lives, we live also. He lives to plead for us. He lives to represent us in heaven. He lives to rule providence for us.” (Spurgeon)

Do you know Him Lost person? Do you know that the Great Shepherd is also our Amazing Saviour of the world? That means that every living soul can be saved! If you are alive today, you still have an opportunity to be saved and secure your eternal resting place in heaven! O that you would heed the call. If you are reading this, it is not by accident! It is God planned! The Bible tells us clearly what we must do to be saved!

Come to him in repentance of your sin, in belief take Him as your personal Saviour, ask Him to forgive your sin and come into your heart and save you . . . you will never be the same again! To God be the glory!

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

April 20, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:2-3 ~ 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  KJV

The SHEEP know their Shepherd when they hear Him; I have heard this all my Christian life AND it was usually in relationship with me and my Saviour. Jesus is the true Shepherd, but Jesus is not talking about Himself here. The shepherd that comes to the sheep through the "right door" is the surrendered to God shepherd of the flock/congregation. A true shepherd comes through love, a God calling, care, and sacrificial service. God always intended that His people be led, fed, and protected by those who come in the legitimate, intended way. The door is there for a reason. Some will always climb over the barriers, but God has the barriers and the door there for a reason.

So those who do not enter by Jesus Christ into the pastoral office, is no other than a thief and a robber in the sheepfold.  "Ambition, avarice, love of ease, a desire to enjoy the conveniences of life, to be distinguished from the crowd, to promote the interests of one’s family, and even the sole design of providing against want-these are all ways by which thieves and robbers enter into the Church." (Clarke) Woe unto those who are not in pastoral position by the call of God Himself. We must be discerning of those who would come for one desire, to better self, not the flock/congregation.

Jesus is the one to follow, He is the door to enter. . . there is no other way!

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

May 12 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Knowing And Showing”
John 14:13-26

Jesus shows Himself and proves Himself to His people in many ways.  Of course, we have the scriptures and we, and as believers trust them to be the truth from God our Father. But even if we didn’t have the Scriptures, Christ has still proven through His people the truth by their experiences.

Jesus dwells in His own people and reveals Himself through them in their actions and definite devoted services. We proclaim with unadulterated ecstasy, that Jesus still lives, not only in our hearts by way of the Holy Spirit, but in very deed and truth. He shows His person through those that have accepted Him, trusted and firmly believe on Him for salvation and assurance. Many saints of God have given us glimpses of Heaven by living close to Jesus and dwelling near the cross.

When Gods people tell how Jesus dwells in them and tells of His blessings and workings in and through them, others can’t help but be touched by their influence.

Others will notice what effect Christ has had on us by our humility; we will brag on Jesus rather than ourselves. Mark the person that says he has acquired a certain amount of humility, because when you think you’ve attained it, you’ve lost it. (Psalm 138:6) Says, “Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.” Realizing Gods very near presence will bring joy and happiness; pleasures are abounding when we are devoted and fully submissive. And then we’ll find the Holy Walk; Christ has never been manifested in a person if there’s no holiness about him. Are you what you say you are, in thought and deed? (Galatians 6:7 - "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: . . .”

“Perfect”

For evil doing, there’s no respect,

God, will wicked works, for sure reject;

He’ll not cast down a perfect man,

But will through him, prove His perfect plan.

Daily Jewel:

“Jesus dwells in His own people and reveals himself through them.”

Bible Reading Schedule: I Chronicles 3-5

Weekly Memory Verses: 1 Peter 2:21

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

April 29~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“My Hope”
Jeremiah 42:17; II Timothy 3:1

This morning about 7:30a.m. an old friend and dear precious lady, got her promotion from this troublesome life and is now breathing, without labor, the clean celestial air of Gods Holy Heaven. And glory to God, she has just now begun to live!

The way of the believer is not always filled with fragrance of roses, bright days and peaceful contented summers. There are many storms, trials and dark days, clouds blot out the sunny days sometimes and darkness falls in the most critical times, and we cry for light and understanding. Solomon says of our path in this life that, “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” (Proverbs 3:17). When we have our trust in God, no matter what our circumstances are, we can experience happiness, even through tears, because our hope and bliss is yet over there. Our lives are filled with disappointments, but our course is taking us to, “the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day, (Proverbs 4:18). Sometimes we find ourselves in the turmoil of the storms, the skies are black, and it seems that the elements are going to take us under, and we say, “If I was truly a child of God, this would not be happening." But remember dear Child, the very best of Christians go through trials and tribulations, we must bear the cross. You see, in the Christians life, you are either in a storm, going into a storm or coming out of a storm. We have weak and timid times, and our path is quite smooth, and then we learn to get stronger in our spiritual walk as we mature into grown-ups; responsible saints. We then begin to see that the winds and waves, trials and tempests are there to exercise our faith and to lean not on our own dependance, but His.

“I’ll See”

In Him, I’m grounded, rooted and firm,
In Him, I’ll rest, I’ll live and learn.
In the sad evil days, for a short while I’ll cope;
But one day I’ll see Heaven, His face, and my hope.

Daily Jewel:

Bible Reading Schedule: 1 Kings 19-20

Weekly Memory Verses: Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

April 25~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

 “I Will Arise”

Song of Soloman 2:10; Colossians 3:1-4; II Peter 1:19

To be risen with Christ is being dead to oneself, dead to worldly desires, dead to my own rights and dead to what I want to do, and alive to what I ought to do. Christ died for me, I have trusted Him in Salvation, I am His. He is risen for me, I trust in that, He is mine. He it is, that brings me out of worldliness and changes my desires; I no longer have to lay in the mud and dust of fleshly lust; pursuits of lasciviousness and carnal aspirations; I am risen with Him, and in Him! He tells me He loves me, and calls me His Beloved, I will arise and go to Him.

He says of His Beloved, that we are fair, lifts us up and makes the proclamation that we are beautiful, how then can I look for another to satisfy my longings? He constantly bids me to pull away from all other loves and selfish conduct to rise and go away with Him. How can I stay and love this that will vanish with the using? Vanity cannot hold anything, for it is no more than soap bubbles, here but for a fleeting moment and then vanishes quicker than it came.
I cannot stay in this wilderness of sin, my eyes can no longer behold it, my ears have heard enough, and my heart is no longer respondent to the beat of my fellows.

To rise up to you my Love, is to be set free from a lonely prison; to rise up with you my Dearest, is to set foot again on land that I’ve not seen for many days, while trapped in a raging storm. To be risen in you my Fragrance, is to lie among the sweet flowers in rest after toiling labor; rising with you in the closest communion, is my ultimate goal, desire and wish. Let me rise upward until the world has no drawing power at all\

“Molded”

You may say, a  stone  can’t  rise,

Nor a handful of clay from drifting sand;

But grace can kindle the inward fires,

When we give ourselves to His molding hand.

“Dying Is Nothing”

(Getting To It Is Quite Rough)

---II Corinthians 5:8; Hebrews 2:14

Child of God, do you fear dying? Let me share with you a simple, but true testimony of one that has gotten their promotion from exile to going home. Though my first wife is with Jesus, she is still speaking through some of my sermons. A few weeks before she graduated to Heaven, she and I were talking about what she was going to wear at her funeral, who was going to sing and the Preacher that she wanted to take care of the service. A nurse was busy taking care of the many bags, bottles and various other containers of medicines, and other necessary things. She stopped suddenly what she was doing and said with a very perplexed look on her face, “how can you sit there and talk of death so calmly and make detailed plans for your funeral.?”   “Doesn’t it bother you to talk of dying? You should be talking of living while undergoing chemotherapy, new blood and platelets almost daily.” But Betty, very calmly, and with the greatest assurance of faith that I have ever witnessed, said, “There’s nothing to dying, I’m a Christian, I’ve been born again; but getting to it has been quite rough.” We are all very close to Home, only a breath separates us from it. Life is hard and is filled with many disappointments. Getting to death, our final enemy, will no doubt have many difficulties for us along this journey, but dying is not death to the believer, it is finally living.  All of the storms of life will be over, and we may struggle with our last breath here, but our next breath will be in Glory, where there is nothing but peace and happiness, forever and ever.

“Our Home Is Just Beyond”

Just beyond the  veil  of  tears,

Just beyond the sadness of years,

Just beyond the sorrows of grieving;

Lies our hopes of glad receiving.

Just beyond the broken dreams

Lives that are filled with things and schemes,

Just beyond lies  deaths’  dark  domain,

getting to it has left scars and pain,

All of those that have left before us--cheer us on-

-”It’s Heaven you’ll gain! He died and arose,

we tell it with fondness,

were not afraid, while looking for home.

Because it lies, just beyond us.

                                            ~ Tom Milam

Daily Jewel:

“There’s  nothing  to dying.

Bible Reading Schedule: 2 Samuel 23-24

Weekly Memory Verses: 1 John 1:5-10

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

April 2 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“He Didn’t Make A Fight Of It”

Isaiah 53:7; Matthew 27:14

Jesus made no defense for Himself, though He had at His disposal legions of angels. He could have snapped His finger or spoke a word and all of Heaven would have lifted its head with swords drawn and come to Calvary’s hill in less than a heartbeat to utterly destroy all those that mocked the very God of Heaven hanging there. But it was not to be so, He saw you and I and said, “for this cause, came I into the world”. He came to be slaughtered as a lamb meekly before the offering block. But it also was self-sacrificial. He uttered not a word. His silence spoke of who He was. Others had said not long before this, “never a man spake like this man.” And those gathered at Calvary had to say, “never was a man silent as this man.” He made no complaints. He struggled not, and He made no complaints. He struggled not and wouldn’t dare go against His Fathers plan and interfere on His own behalf. Jesus stood speechless in-patient silence and was saying to the world, “I love you and it is best to do the will of the Father, no mistake is being made here today.”

A calm and meek endurance says more than a mouthful of lofty eloquent words in most situations. By His silence, Jesus showed the wisdom of knowing and fulfilling what was prophesied about Him, especially in the book of Isaiah. He proved beyond a shadow of doubt that He was the true Lamb of God, by His silence, and His willingness to suffer alone for the sins of the world.

"The Blessed True Story"

May I today salute the King,

The Saviour come from glory.

The Lamb of God that in silence bowed,

And gave us this blessed true story;

Oh, speak to us O voice of love,

Make the silence not be a worry;

But tell us again as we stand in awe,

How you gave us this blessed true story.

~ Tom Milam

Weekly Memory Verses: Hebrews 4:9-13

Hebrews 4:9-13 ~ 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 ¶Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.  KJV

March 17, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam March Devotions: "First Mary, Then Martha"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Psalms 119:36-37 ~ 36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. 37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.  KJV

The psalmist is asking God to turn his heart toward the Bible rather than allowing him to pursue selfish gain, something we all may struggle with. I have read countless stories of folks who have "won the lottery" but had no desire after that to pursue the things of God. From there they were on a spiral towards sin. When we put our personal "desires" and wants before God, we are on a slippery slope which will lead us into major problems. Unless we keep God as our focus, this slippery slope is a course of action which is likely to lead to failure or serious trouble. It's a slippery slope. You give in to one demand and soon find that you're doing exactly what the devil wants.

Folks, we live in imperfect bodies, in an imperfect world. The devil is in charge here on earth, for a "season", and he has the power to lead us into temptation, evil, and ultimately defeat. 2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  He is a liar and a deceiver, and he hates God and all that has anything to do with Him. He is not out to make your life better with that million-dollar lottery, he now has given you a tool that could destroy your life and the lives of others around you.

The psalmist knew his own weaknesses and asked God to keep him from the of covetousness and to guard his eyes from anything that would separate him from God. I want that too. I want to be able to look at my Saviour one day and say I did not fail Him.... but I have and I most likely will again!  My prayer for me and mine, Lord, please keep us from ALL evil and direct our paths according to YOUR WILL! AMEN!  How about you? Do you have a weakness you need to overcome and turn it all over to God so that you can serve Him and Him alone? Do you even know Jesus Christ as your Saviour?  If not, allow us to tell you about the most wonderful decision you could ever make regarding your soul's eternal destination.

Follow After Christ Always! Don't allow the tempter to have control of ANY portion of your life. RESIST!

James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

HE LOVES US!
