January 2, 2023 ~ January 2023 Devotions: "Radiant"

 And so, I continue. . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Numbers 6:24-26 ~ 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. KJV

Alot of people when they read the Word of God, skip the Old Testament and find it cumbersome. But may I say that is a big mistake. The entire picture painted by the writers of the days of Noah, Moses, Jacob, David. . .all of the men of God that He used to teach the people of His ways and the blessings that can be received by obedience to Him, is so amazing and eye opening!  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. . . don't miss any of it! Read your Bible from end to end.

The book of Numbers is just a continuance of the Book of Leviticus in its content. The message of the Book of Numbers is universal and timeless. It reminds believers of the spiritual warfare in which we may be engaged, and that Numbers is the book of the service and walk of God’s people. The Book of Numbers essentially bridges the gap between the Israelites receiving the Law (Exodus and Leviticus) and preparing them to enter the Promised Land (Deuteronomy and Joshua). These people are our kinsfolk.  I love reading about folks of the past, and especially from the Word of God.

Moses shares these verses with the Israelites in an effort to encourage them and to let them know that no matter what the LORD God wanted them to prosper and bless them by their faithfulness and their obedience to Him. I mentioned in yesterday's devotion that when we spend time with God in prayer, study and worship, our countenance will reflect that "shine", a look of peacefulness and a shining happy glow about us. How? When we spend time with the LORD, these verses clearly tell us that the LORD's face will "shine" on us.  His reflection is on our faces. I don't know about you, but I want that in my life. I know many Christians who do not attend church. But they pray and believe God answers prayers. But I want you to know although that is commendable, until we surrender to the LORD completely, we are still missing God's best.

God wants us to follow all the ways He has recorded in His Word for worshiping Him, obeying Him, following Him, serving Him. You can't do it on your own folks. Attending a good Bible Believing church is so important for our Christian walk. You are basically saying, "I don't need to go to church to love God!" That is true, but we assemble because He wants us to. When we gather up with folks who have that same "radiant shine" in their lives, they are such an encouragement to us. They love us like blood, pray for us, cry with us, laugh with us, even open their homes to us; they are our extended family. They know when we hurt, and they know when we are happy. AND they pray for us daily. All of this important if I want the right kind of walk with Jesus.

I will shine for Jesus when I tithe, give to missions, and give my special offerings over and above our tithe. We do all these things through our local church here in Florida, Faith Baptist Church of Ft. Pierce! Join us soon, you will see what I mean.

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

The time is drawing near as this verse says, when assembling together with like Christians will cease. Find you a church home and attend regularly, while there is still time! Get your children and grandchildren in church. Don't you find that when you do attend church, even if it isn't every service, that you are uplifted spiritually? I do. It is the way I am many times able to continue my walk for Christ!  God has been good to us, and I want to follow His ways and receive that "radiant shine" that He wants to give me.

If you don't know Him, come to Him today!

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
