June 25 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Saints and Sorrow”

John 12:27-28

I’m beginning to understand now, some of the sorrow that I’ve been through, I’m not complaining, but I simply see myself as never before. I know now as I’ve never known that He is with me in my saddest hour, to pick me up and comfort me when people fail to have the ability.

God is never wrong; He makes no mistakes; our suffering and sorrow is but for a moment and then it is gone. The pangs of sin will hinder and haunt us until we cross over. Then the joys we share will not compare with the unspeakable pleasures that heaven holds.

Suffering and sorrow have brought me closer to God. I could have easily gotten bitter, self-centered or envious of those that seemingly have no sorrow or storms of suffering. But thank God I’ve experienced the things that I have. Had I not, I would have a completely different attitude.

I see now why God has laid on me such a compassion to help others and be spent myself. God has done this work in me, and I have nothing to brag about, but Jesus and Him crucified. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

“Psalms 30:5”

Sadness here, suffering there,

sorrow, sickness, everywhere.

When will it stop?

What can we do?

Take it to Jesus,

He’ll see you through.

                    ~ Tom Milam

Daily Jewel:

“Our suffering and sorrow is but for a moment.”

 Bible Reading Schedule: Job 41-42

Weekly Memory Verses:  Ephesians 2:1-5

1 ¶And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 ¶But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

June 23 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Sorrow And Grief”
Isaiah 53:3

Grief was Jesus’ constant companion, we only suffer it from time to time, thank God.

No one automatically comes to God in salvation over a period of time or the things they do to somehow acquire it. It is a release of oneself into the hands of a merciful God in full surrender, and then He does the saving. When we get saved, many of us and probably all of us, think that our problems are over, but actually they just begin; but with grace, to overcome our problems. We are overcomers through Jesus Christ and His mercy and grace.

After we are saved, sin shows its ugly head as never before, and lets us know we are in a fight; but we are more than conquerors through Jesus. We are taught in the scriptures, to mortify the deeds of the body; sin must die. So, I will be killing sin in my life until the day I die, because as long as I have flesh, I’ll be battling sin.

Grief and sorrow will be like an ugly black cloud as long as I have breath, because of sin, but thanks be to God that He sent the remedy for sin, my Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ.

“I Forgive”

Upon the cross, the cruel tree,

He suffered there for you and me.

Most painful back and stinging brow;

His bloody head, did humbly bow;

Said, “I forgive,” and made it so,

That we, through faith to Heaven can go.

-Tom Milam

Daily Jewel:

“I will be killing sin in my life until the day that I die.”

 Bible Reading Schedule: Job 34-37

Weekly Memory Verses:  1 Peter 2:21-25

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

March 11, 2023, ~ Linda K. Milam March Devotions: "First Mary, Then Martha"

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Psalms 40:16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in the
e: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be
magnified.  KJV

A Psalm of DavidG. Campbell Morgan speculated, “In this case the reason for the song in all probability was that of the deliverance of David from all the long experience of outlawry and suffering; and the fact that he had been brought to his coronation.”

David sure has been through a lot of rough times, but here he is again encouraging us to seek after God for there we will find a reason to ". . .rejoice and be glad in thee:. . ." How can one who was chased, had murder attempted on his life, hated by the very king that you sat beside and played and sang the lovely words of song to ease a troubled heart, betrayed, hurt, rejected, lied about, . . . how can he say these words? David can turn to God for his hurt, pain, and his joy because God is God, and he would not be where he was unless God had brought him through all of those hard times.

Where are you? Are you a David, one who has been hurt so badly you feel like you cannot go on. That is where the devil wants you. He wants you defeated and destroyed Christian. Don't allow the sin of satan to keep you in a pit of depression, anger, bitterness, hurt; all those things that cause you to lose your joy in the LORD God. We can claim these promises from God of restoration, joy, love, acceptance. . . we can! If God Himself can give us all that we need and more, I choose God. Depression, sadness, pain, agony, all negative feelings sent by the devil himself to destroy you. . .and God knows! But we have to be the ones to reject these feelings and turn to God. He alone is our salvation in all walks of life, and it is He that can restore you to your rightful place in the kingdom of God.

Lost person, you also are being attacked by the devil. He doesn't want you to get saved, but he won't deny you need to be saved, "just not today", "You can get saved next week!", he says. Well, he can say all that and keep you in his clutch, or you can turn to God, beg forgiveness sincerely with a contrite heart over your sinful life, repent of these ways, and believe with all your heart that God loved you so much, He sacrificed HIS ONLY SON, just for you to be saved. This is your invitation to JOY!

When we REJECT this, we play directly into Satan's hands. The day of the return of Jesus Christ is drawing closer and closer, and if you do not make Him your Saviour on that day you will be totally rejected by God. O sinner, please make Jesus your Saviour and avoid that awful day when God will reject all sinners! Seek after the things of the LORD, you will never, never, regret it.

Follow After Christ Aways!

HE LOVES US!

February 27, 2023, ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Colossians 3:12-13 ~ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  KJV

Who are we that we can believe that we can use the gifts of God to hurt others? My very being is because God saw fit to bring me into this world alive; many are not. To give me the ability to speak, hear, feel, smell, taste; many do not have. The knowledge I have of salvation; many are not saved. The faith of God to heal and help me in times of need; many do not have this comfort.

The power of the tongue is mighty! Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: . . ." if I know I am saved and a child of God, Paul tells me that I am ". . . the elect of God, holy and beloved, . . ." He has shown mercy and grace on me, and I call Him my Father through Jesus His Son. It is my responsibility to ensure that others see Him in me, and when there IS a conflict with a brother or another, I am to forgive, and forbear. It is what I want to do. When I know that there are problems between myself and someone else, I can't wait to get things right. I may not understand the whys; but God does, and He will resolve all issues before me. And when I ask for forgiveness or give forgiveness, I have obeyed God.

There are many lost people today who have been offended in some way by a Christian or a Church. How can they be saved if we cannot lower our pride to try to make things right. We may not fully agree with their thinking, but that isn't what Paul is saying here. We are to forgive as Christ forgave us. I venture to say, the Lord doesn't think I am right all the time when it comes to my disobedience to Him.

O Lord, help us in our walk every day to keep "pride" away and humble ourselves enough to forgive, or to be forgiven and to resolve all quarrels among us. It is Your way, and we want You prevalent in our lives. When there is conflict, it is hard to focus on You! Help us we pray every day! AMEN

HE LOVES US!

PLEASE PRAY WITH US THAT GOD WILL GIVE US A HOME OF OUR OWN SOON. THANK YOU! We looked at an option Friday. We are asking God for wisdom, trusting Him for our every need.

February 14 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“She Yet Lives!”

John 11:25,26

This morning as I write and prepare to take part in the funeral of one of my favorite Aunts, I’m sad and heartbroken of the fact that I’ll not see her again in this life, but I’m, on the other hand, thrilled beyond measure that she has rested from her toiling and suffering, she’s in her eternal home, with Jesus, loved ones and friends. With God, glory is the final issue, not death, because she has just started living.

I find two wonderfully astounding truths in John Chapter eleven, verse twenty-five and twenty-six:

#1 The Dead Shall Live: Jesus said, “He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. (Though, death has taken the mortal body, yet the believer Lives!) Despite how it looks today, my aunt still lives!  John 5:24 says: We that are believers “have passed from death unto life!” Psalm 23: 4 says, We walk “through” the valley of the shadow of death. Death is a part of the believers journey, and Jesus walks through it with us. Death does not hold us, because Jesus broke it’s bands asunder and we eternally live.

#2 John 11:26, The Living Shall Never Die: “And whosever liveth and believeth in me shall never die!” (a coffin is nothing but a hope chest) And a grave, is but resurrection ground for the believer.

My aunt is now living at the Father's house, and we are simply honoring the body that we will miss so much; she yet lives!

“What Did You See John?”

No more night, no more needing,

No more sorrow, no more pleading.

No more pain, no more crying,

No more endings, and no more dying.

The star of the morning will shine in its splendor,

To see His appearing will be worth the surrender.

The summit is ahead, don’t wander or roam,

Just keep on climbing, the crest is home.

January 25, 2023 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

 “Continual Mercy”

Psalm 23:6; Ephesians 2:4

It is not good to dwell in the past of the pleasures of sin, or on the things we wish we should have done. Words we should or shouldn’t have spoken. But it is good to look back in the past and reflect on the mercies of God. It is actually spiritually healthy to look back on past experiences, not to try to relive them, but to build upon them and confirm more solid convictions.

Look how merciful God was when He brought you through that illness that you and others thought was so critical, it was His hand that touched you. Look back at the times you were in financial difficulties, and He held to His promises; “I’ll never leave you nor forsake you," and He supplied your need and then some. Look back at that time you were in trouble and there was no way out, didn’t our Mighty God deliver you? Don’t ever forget where you could have been, had it not been for a merciful God. Have not all of your needs been met? Then it is a fair assumption to believe that God will meet the need of the hour, Amen!

Though today your circumstances seem darker than ever, just look back at the mercies He has adorned you with in the past trials of life, and light will glow over the horizon and the shadows will disappear with new morning brightness. We can call on God to remember His tender mercies and loving kindness for they have been forever and will continue to be for His children.

“Remember Mercy”

O Lord, remember to do as you said,

To care for the living among the dead;

Your mercy is strong, and your love is so sweet,

To set up-right the down-fallen feet;

Your kindness was shown in days gone by,

It is not a matter of asking why;

Just mount up my friend, and away we will fly.

November 23, 2022, ~ Devotions: "The Grace of Giving"

 And So, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Romans 8:32 ~ He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?  KJV

When we consider the absolute staggering truth of this magnificent verse of Scripture, there should never be one doubt in our minds of God's depth of love towards us, and the enormous gift of grace He has bestowed on ALL who trust in the Son of His Love. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? This is amazing love, grace, and truth! He is our Amazing God!

The glory that is contained in this astonishing reality should never become so familiar to us that a Christian is not left profoundly humbled and deeply amazed when reflecting upon the reality that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, so that all who believe on Him would not perish but have everlasting life. He asks so little of us really, just have Faith in God. Trust Him, don't go down to your death bed having a "hope so" salvation. . . You can know for sure that you have this salvation spoken of in this verse. (See November 22, 2022, devotion for a verse-by-verse way that you CAN KNOW that you are saved and on your way to heaven.)

He gave us a Way out of the devils grasp and did it freely knowing what this evil world would do to His Son. Many like to think of our sacrificed Jesus, neatly hung on the cross, but this depiction is a lie. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Jesus was beaten, mauled, spit upon, stabbed, beard ripped from His face. . .He was literally flayed open with the whip of choice at that time. There are many who have different ideas about that whip, but if you study Roman history, the sole purpose of that whipping was to bring degradation, humiliation, and mock the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords as well as bring excruciating pain as they have whipped him unmercifully showing organs, bones, with flesh ripped by the whip. O How my mind goes wild as I think on that.  Until you by faith believe in Him Who died for all, and I mean ALL, for me and you! His blood was shed and now covers all of our sins for eternity and beyond! Thank you seems so small, but we are truly THANKFUL!

I wanted you to see the tools that were most likely used by the Roman Soldiers to Whip our Lord. These are artists renditions of that whip. There is no detail in the Bible that describes the total damage they did to His body, but these whips allow us a vision of what happened to Jesus, and if you read up on punishments enforced by the Roman Empire during His time, you will be shocked! Such absolute cruelty; from beheadings to being eaten alive by wild beasts in an arena for all to watch. Jesus' death was prophesied of in Chapter 53 of the book of Isaiah and Isaiah was quite detailed on what would happen, 800 years before Christ was ever born.  All of this for you and I. HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US! That is truly "Grace Giving." Have you given YOURSELF to Jesus yet? Don't wait until it is to late! Surrender today, take Him as your personal Saviour. You will never regret it! Let us know how we can help.

Lord, help us to be worthy of your sacrifice, may we be the ultimate givers, giving from the heart and hope that others might see Jesus in us.  Please, save the lost and help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You, giving YOU all of our best with an open loving heart for the ministry and people. Amen.

With love and prayers,

LKMilam

November 5, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Grace of Giving"

 And So, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.   Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalm 13:6 ~ 6) I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

I try to read at least one chapter in the book of Psalms each day - it helps me to know how God wants me to love Him, trust Him, serve Him.  I see that God got David through some trying times, scary times, hurting times - as we see in Psalm 13. He got to verse 6, and through the power of God, his joy has been restored! He can sing unto the Lord and thank Him for his bountiful supply. Let me share a little outline on this chapter and a few words to follow that might help you see something in it that helps me!

The psalm is three stanzas, 2 verses each:

    1. The problem (13:1‑2).

    2. The petition (13:3‑4).

    3. The praise (13:5‑6).

David had a problem, and he needs to get to point 3, praise!  He starts by calling on God, I have a problem.  He is no different than us. There are times in the life of every Christian, when even though you are walking by faith and there is no known sin in your life, God seems far away. You pray, but God doesn’t answer. You read the Bible, but it does not speak to you. You seek God, but it seems as if He is hiding.  Before David got to the praise portion of this Chapter, he questioned how long God? How long shall I have to endure this situation in my life, how long will you tarry? Why God? We are hurting O God, ease our pain, deliver us from the enemy! Help God!  Where are you when I need you, God! From David's problems we learn much! Again, I can't thank God enough for recording the Word He meant for us to have every day!  It should be our first meal of the day, so to speak for it has EVERY answer of life!

David was being tormented by his enemy - he wanted relief, so he called out to God to make Him known of his problem. God knew; and God knows where you are today as well! But He also wanted David to talk to Him. And He wants us to do the same. We are to give Him our Petions, tell Him we need help ~ just as David did.

Just know, you’re in good company. David, the man whom God called “a man after My own heart,” had the experience of hurt, heartache, fear, loneliness in hard times. He describes it in Psalm 13. Out of the depths of his heart David repeats four times the haunting cry, “How long?” There is no indication in these verses that David had sinned. But his enemy was about to get him. In spite of David’s repeated prayers, God seemed unavailable. Have you ever been there? You desperately call out to God, but He seems to have taken an extended vacation. Psalm 13 tells you what to do when you have these feelings of desertion.

What did David do? He cried out to God, and then David was in a position to record verse 6. He began to praise the Lord! He knew that even in his lowest times, he knew God would never fail him.  And He will never fail you.  God is our great supplier not only in the physical, but also in the spiritual.  We can trust Him to provide, "bountifully" in every area of our lives, when we "Give It All to Him!

Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.

With love and prayers,
LKMilam
