“A Soldier Of The Cross”
Acts 14:22; Psalm 30:5
Someone came to me not to long ago and ask me to pray for them because they were going through a trial, and they felt God was chastening them. I said, I will not; I will not pray that God lift his correction nor lessen His trial of direction. The man was about to be angry with me until I explained what the Bible shows about the people of God all down through the line of believers.
God never intended for all his people to be untried, trials are part of the Christian walk. Trials are ordained to have their seasons as well as all the other things that God has created and ordained. Trials are as sure as the sun rising and setting from east to west, or the moon glowing from the heaven by night and the stars that have been placed in their sockets, so are our trials set. Everything has its season and its place, especially the trials of good men, he could not be what he is without troubles. Jesus suffered trials and trouble. So, we should be very disappointed if we don’t have the same. Look at those other than Christ that went through trials before us, the history of the church and beyond, to men like Moses, Abraham - how do you think Abraham got to be called the “Father of the Faithful”, it was by trial. Look at the Apostles, Prophets, those that were martyrs for the cause of right. God made them to pass through fires of affliction. God ordained it of old, that the cross of trouble would be the believer's lot. We become vessels of honor by traveling this way, because our Lord has been this way before us, and we can be assured that His presence is with us, he sympathizes with us, His grace supports us, and His example teaches us to learn to endure hardness as a soldier.
“No Looking Back”
The road to Heaven is by a cross,
A way of suffering you see;
A soldier with honor, is one that will suffer,
and from trouble will not flee.

Weekly Memory Verses: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-10
1 Thessalonians 5:5-10 ~ 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
