“All Alone”
John 16:32
Only a few experienced seeing Jesus suffer in agony, there in the garden. But they could only see through human eyes, they could not comprehend the depth of His sorrow. The dying for mankind was yet a mystery to them, they were still leaning on the Law and the letter of doing and seeing alone. Faith and the gospel were still mysteries, and the indwelling of the Spirit had not yet been given as we know it. They all were still looking before the cross, whereas we look back to it.
No doubt it was a great sight to behold, for the few disciples to witness our Saviour bowed before God in the deepest humility, weeping, agonizing and sweating as great drops of blood; And He willingly did it to show His love for His Father and His love toward us.
Those that watched were only a short distance away, about as far as a man can throw a rock. They watched as He entered into a place that they had never seen before, the veil of sorrow, and the alone-ness of entering the Holiest of Holies. No one could be there with Him, to bear that burden, to suffer, and to know that soon His Father would have to turn His back on His Son, while bearing the reproach of this world of sin and iniquity. These that saw and heard the suffering of the High Priest, now would be better able to stand and withstand the coming days of their fellowship with His sufferings. It is far too deep for us to actually grasp it, but by faith we’ve been granted the privilege to believe that He suffered beyond our comprehension, that we could take part in His Glory.
“Willing”
We sing, “Joy unspeakable and full of Glory,”
It is indeed the most wonderful story.
The Saviors life suffering from birth to the tree,
And He willingly did it to save you and me.

Romans 5:1-5 ~ 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
