March 2 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

 “Learning From The Devil”

I Peter 5:8

We all would like to get rid of the Devil, but we can’t, because where God is in our lives, he is very present also. If he then is so present with us, then we should take every advantage to learn all we can from him to keep from falling into his traps. In one particular instance the children of Israel went down to their enemy, the Philistines, to sharpen their tools that they might do their work. (I Samuel 13:20).

Let us take a close look at how we might learn from our enemy, how to better equip ourselves against him. First, let’s look at our zeal, is it for knowledge of the Word of God that we might learn to serve Him better? Or is it more on a personal level, of how we can gain from it, or show others what zeal we have for impression alone? This is one of the enemy’s tricks. Our zeal should be tempered with the Holy Spirit that will guide us to brag on Jesus and not what we’ve done. Secondly, look how devoted the Devil’s followers are, the deceivers, the cults and the world lovers. They will serve their idols, no matter what. Shouldn’t we serve our God, with this same devotedness? After all, He gave us eternal life, and the Devil offers only temporary pleasures and then eternal damnation. The Devil is very patient, and his followers are willing self- sacrificers; They persevere and let nothing stand in their way; their energy is like none other; they are daring, and unification is their mainstay. While we as believers allow division among ourselves to hinder our service and hardly ever come into unity, as we are led and even commanded to do so. We can learn from the devil, how to draw closer to God and be more dedicated in Gods service.

“Seeking”

Seeking whom he may devour,

The devil makes a mess;

But we are good Samaritans,

Seeking whom we may bless.

Bible Reading Schedule: Deuteronomy 3-4

Weekly Memory Verses: Romans 1:14-17

Romans 1:14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?
