March 11 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Is A Little Sin All That Bad?”

Ecclesiastes 8:11; Numbers 32:23; Romans 7:13

Sin, to the world is not sin anymore, and sad to say many Christians do not see it as bad as it used to be. A lot of people, saved and lost alike, use the crutch of: “well that’s just the way it is, and we’ll have to learn to live with it.” That is gross misuse of God’s grace to expect Him to look over sin and not punish it. Sin is still sin, Hell is still hot, and a sinner is still black and ugly. Never take lightly, even the very thoughts of sin. Remember when you first got saved, you were afraid of the slightest little sin or discredit to God. You had Godly fear, you didn’t want to offend God or anything that seemed to be holy. And then by paying too close attention to the hardness of the world you allowed some of it to creep into your own life, and some sins don’t affect you as they once did. You are in danger of growing calloused to sin, and before you know it, you’ll compromise more and more  of  your first God-given convictions and rather than build upon them, will cast them aside to pick up others, that will be more suited to the world that you won’t cause to much of a stir.

At first the smallest of sins greatly bothers us, we would never do it again, but then after a while we will say, well, it is just a little sin, it probably won’t hurt that much.  But then little by little we are allowing larger and larger things of the world to invade the house that God chose to live in, and we bring a reproach on Him by lessoning the value of His presence. We use the excuse, “well I guess I’ve tripped a little, but I’m not living in open sin, yet.” Never try to hide sins by changing its names, sin is not just a “little thing;” And don’t try to cover it, because a few drops of water, falling consistent over a long period of time will erode th
e hardest of materials.

 “Free”

Freedom is not, doing as you want,

But doing as you know you ought.

Daily Jewel:

“Never take lightly even the very thoughts of sin.”

Bible Reading Schedule: Deuteronomy 29-31

Weekly Memory Verses: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-10

1 Thessalonians 5:5-10 ~ 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
