March 29 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

 “Obedience Through Suffering”

John 15:20; II Timothy 3:12; Hebrews 5:8

We should not be to alarmed that we are called upon to suffer hardship for Christ's sake, He was made perfect through suffering.  So it is evidently set forth that we who are far from perfect shall suffer persecution also. And not just one area of our life or one part of our body may be called upon to suffer. Jesus suffered mind, body and spirit for us, so should we expect to go to heaven on a bed of flowery ease?

Jesus teaches us that suffering is as much a part of the Christian life as anything else, suffering for the believer is necessary. You see, if Jesus had not suffered ahead of us, the statement could not be said, “being made perfect through suffering.” He had to go through persecution so He could feel sympathy for us. Remember, “He is the High Priest who is touched with the feelings of our infirmities.”

Friends, as you follow Christ, let His sympathy and sustaining power strengthen you; He suffered for us, so He will ever be close to His brethren. To be an honorable vessel, we must first suffer the pains of the potters molding. We should rejoice that we were counted worthy to suffer in our afflictions, He will give grace to suffer for Him and with Him.

“From Trials To Triumph”

Will we lay back in comfort and ease and have no crowning gem?

The jewels of affliction are to suffer there with Him;

Kings are crowned from battles fought and sorrows from dungeons dim.

Troubles and grief may be our lot, but someday we will reign with Him.

Daily Jewel:

“We should not be alarmed that we are called upon to suffer hardships for Christ’ sake.”

Bible Reading Schedule: Judges 18-19

Weekly Memory Verses:

Romans 8:24  For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26  ¶Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. KJV
