March 12 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“The Power of Love”

II Corinthians 10:12; I Corinthians 13:13; Matthew 5:43

Who is your neighbor? He is a man just like you, made of the same stuff, body, soul and spirit. He may have more things than you, and what he has accumulated may be of much more value. But what are things if he has not things made right in his life? You may have less things of lesser value, but are things right in your life? If you envy your neighbor as better than yourself, you are not living right with God. If he then esteems you lower than himself, he is surely not right either. I look at it like this, no one is any better than I am, and I’m no better than them. God has supplied each of us with gifts, let us not see our neighbors as greater or lesser, but let’s treat each other as we ought, let’s show each other love for what we are, a living soul.

If we love each other for what we are, we’ll not worry too much about what we have. Love doesn’t make comparison; love accepts people as they are. Love is equal to all, who will have a right relationship with it. Though one is rich, and one is poor, are we more than men? I think not, we are equally flesh and blood, and stand as needy creatures concerning spirituality. Of course, there are some people who won’t let you love them, even the more so, love them with fervent compassion, as much as you can and you’ll be the better for it, even if it hurts. If you never dare to love, you’ll never know the best of love. Seek to love them like Jesus did, not to please them, but to rescue them, and sometimes this is no easy task, but it is worth it, to love unconditionally.

“Love”

To follow in the footsteps of Jesus,

is to have love most of all;

Love is the key to contentment,

all other things crumble and fall.

Bible Reading Schedule: Deuteronomy 32-34

Weekly Memory Verses: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-10

1 Thessalonians 5:5-10 ~ 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
