“Divine Discipline”
Matthew 5:30,48

I would rather limp or even crawl through life and be saved; though these things, like so many others, would be rough storms to endure; But Jesus promised to be in them with us, so that we could find direction in discipline and contentment. I therefore cannot justly hurt anyone with an offense or a damning blow.  My Christian Character says, to offend in anything makes me a party to it, I should therefore come under the same judgement.

When I got saved, I gave up all rights to myself, I am not my own, I’m bought with a price; I dare not bring a reproach on Jesus. There are a lot of things that I could do, but they would surely bring doubt and hurt to another, so I can’t allow myself to do these things.

Others may never understand why I do what I do and act the way I act. I believe I have convictions from the Bible that portray Jesus, and that is what I want others to see. May God help me and give me enough spiritual strength and sense to not criticize another believer. But the lost are already under judgement and condemnation, so may I live that they would desire to have Jesus as their saviour.

 “Direction”

I feel better now when I feel bad,

than I did back yonder when I felt good;

Then out of the things I called good,

He pulled me away and showed me

the things I should and could.

“Caught”
Philippians 3:12

I have been caught by God, and I wasn’t even looking for Him; But He was looking for me.  I couldn’t imagine myself being a Christian, but the Holy Spirit came my way and started bothering me. When I was at my lowest point in life, and everything seemed hopeless, He came to me and broke my heart; I received Jesus into my heart, so therefore I was apprehended.

God called me to preach, and then He is equipping me to preach according to His power and the needs of others, not what I think it ought to be. I have one thing to do in this life, and that is to preach the gospel, and praise God! That is exactly what I’m determined to do. God help me not to waver but preach the word of God as it is to men as they are.  Not to show myself as a big “I” and a little “you”, but just another old sinner, apprehended of God. I should have been in Hell a long time ago. Thank God I’m saved!

“I Know”

I’m saved and I know it,

of this I am sure;

‘Twas not I that did it,

but God with His lure.

“Delivered”
Jeremiah 1:8

God is always there with His promises, though I don’t understand His movement all of the time, He is caring like none other.  All of the things that I call mine, are not mine at all, but His. So, I must use all I have and all I am to bring praise and glory to Him.

I have no rights in myself, only what’s right in Gods sight. I don’t even want to stand up for myself, He stands for me; I’m never alone.

My hearts greatest desire is to totally be devoted to Jesus and His cause. This world will never be friendly with me, it would be a sin to expect it. But I will be friendly and compassionate to the world, while I’m living in it. Because I don’t want them to miss heaven.

Jesus met all kinds of opposition, why would I think it to be strange to do the same? I’m glad and proud to stand up for Jesus and be counted as one of His, regardless of what happens in my life. The way to extreme happiness is to let Jesus have His way with me. God will help our unbelief and be able to throw our own understanding, that is selfish, out the window and be able to trust Him with all our hearts.

“Deliverance From Self”

 I’m not my own,

 I’m bought with a price.

I have no earthly rights,

I’ve given “self”

over to Him.

Now He fights my fights.

“Now, Is the Grace of God”
II Corinthians 6:1

Thank God, His grace is sufficient for the present. I don’t have to worry about yesterday, it is gone. I don’t have to worry about tomorrow, it is not here yet. But today, I must draw from it, to be my best for Jesus.

I pray in panic sometimes, when I don’t know what to do. I pray much when I’m hurting; I pray absolutely when I’m angry, and I even pray when I’m reluctant to pray. But most of all may I be found praying and trusting God for others’ sake, and also those precious times when I just stop everything, just to thank Him.

There are troubles all around, decisions to make as a missionary; lives are falling apart, the devil is raging, souls are dying, Gods people are negligent; I am perplexed and overwhelmed, I must draw from His grace now. I must trust in His grace and provision; I am dry in my thinking many times: Too many things are happening at once, it is hard to maintain. Grace, O grace, I need you now!

May I extend myself in the grace of God, that nothing can be seen or heard of myself, but Jesus and His love.

 “Grace”

There’s grace a-plenty in His coffer

Grace a-plenty, He does offer.

Grace for work, grace for love;

Grace for reaching the throne above.

Grace to guide us straight to Him,

When we pray and repent of all sin.

“Saints and Sorrow”

John 12:27-28

I’m beginning to understand now, some of the sorrow that I’ve been through, I’m not complaining, but I simply see myself as never before. I know now as I’ve never known that He is with me in my saddest hour, to pick me up and comfort me when people fail to have the ability.

God is never wrong; He makes no mistakes; our suffering and sorrow is but for a moment and then it is gone. The pangs of sin will hinder and haunt us until we cross over. Then the joys we share will not compare with the unspeakable pleasures that heaven holds.

Suffering and sorrow have brought me closer to God. I could have easily gotten bitter, self-centered or envious of those that seemingly have no sorrow or storms of suffering. But thank God I’ve experienced the things that I have. Had I not, I would have a completely different attitude.

I see now why God has laid on me such a compassion to help others and be spent myself. God has done this work in me, and I have nothing to brag about, but Jesus and Him crucified. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

“Psalms 30:5”

Sadness here, suffering there,

sorrow, sickness, everywhere.

When will it stop?

What can we do?

Take it to Jesus,

He’ll see you through.

“The Fact of Sin”
Luke 22:53

I am a sinner saved by grace of Almighty God. I don’t practice sin any longer, but sin remains in me, and the potential to bring a reproach on God, the church and man.  My flesh is the culprit, it will continue to be with me like a black cloud over my life until the day it is dissolved and made like unto His glorious holy body. I must face sin in my life squarely or I will be brought down by it. I am not immune to it, it can and will strike at any circumstance in my life, especially when my guard is down.

We are innocent at the moment we are saved, but innocence fades quickly; then we learn to live pure and righteous in Christ, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our problems many times, are our weaknesses that we lean on like crutches; We make ourselves available for disaster by not checking sin in our lives. I know that in me dwells no good thing, but Christ.

“Come Under”

Your flesh cries out,

“What about me,”

When the Spirit says,

come under

The Spirit of holiness,

must rule always,

And it takes obedience

and surrender.

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

“Sorrow And Grief”
Isaiah 53:3

Grief was Jesus’ constant companion, we only suffer it from time to time, thank God.

No one automatically comes to God in salvation over a period of time or the things they do to somehow acquire it. It is a release of oneself into the hands of a merciful God in full surrender, and then He does the saving. When we get saved, many of us and probably all of us, think that our problems are over, but actually they just begin; but with grace, to overcome our problems. We are overcomers through Jesus Christ and His mercy and grace.

After we are saved, sin shows its ugly head as never before, and lets us know we are in a fight; but we are more than conquerors through Jesus. We are taught in the scriptures, to mortify the deeds of the body; sin must die. So, I will be killing sin in my life until the day I die, because as long as I have flesh, I’ll be battling sin.

Grief and sorrow will be like an ugly black cloud as long as I have breath, because of sin, but thanks be to God that He sent the remedy for sin, my Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ.

“I Forgive”

Upon the cross, the cruel tree,

He suffered there for you and me.

Most painful back and stinging brow;

His bloody head, did humbly bow;

Said, “I forgive,” and made it so,

That we, through faith to Heaven can go.

“Self Judgement First”
Matthew 7:2

Rather than looking at people through a microscope, we are to see them through a telescope. Jesus teaches us this when He says, “forebear with one another, “and cultivate a long-suffering spirit.

May I never judge, I can’t see what damage it does to the other person; I’m sure that’s why Jesus teaches against it. He sees the results, that I’m too stubborn to even consider. God help me to keep my heart clean of this thing that will ultimately be the ruin and disgrace of a believer.

The word of God teaches us to practice humility, but be very careful, when you begin bragging about having it, then you’ve lost it; Follow Christ in humility and you’ve found the secret. When a critical spirit hits me, I start thinking about where I could have been, had it not been for Jesus. I then center my thoughts on the presence of God, and then I can’t help but look forward to the promise of an eternal home. When God looks at me, He sees the blood of Jesus, may I look at others in that same light.

“Judge Yourself”

Who do you think you are,

to judge and criticize?

The same Lord that brought you up,

Can cut you down to size.

To judge ourselves before the rest;

will never leave a scar.

If we can’t trust the Lord for best.

Just who do we think we are?

June 21 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“The Inside Man”
I Peter 2:9

Because of Jesus and what He did for me, I am a Priest, and the work of a priest is to lay himself down and forget about who or what he is and be an intercessor for others. Our life as a Christian, is to simply trust in the Atonement and get rid of the idea that God can’t make it without us. I am saved and I’m complete in Him. I therefore have access to the throne of Grace and can sing--redeemed! Redeemed! By the blood of the Lamb.

If I spend myself, may I be privileged to do it on behalf of others, for Christ’ sake and His cause. The very best thing I can do, is to have faith in God. I cannot trust myself - I am flesh - I will fail; I am frail, I surely will falter. I am wrong and He is right; I’m a sinner saved by grace, and if I’m to be anything it is Him living in me that makes me anything at all. I’m hid with Christ in God, I therefore can pray for others, and He will hear me and answer my pleadings; Hallelujah!  I got in because someone took the time to pray for me; thank God, Amen!

“Not My Own”

Get sick of yourself,

forget it forever.

From it all ties,

Completely sever.

Our rights no longer,

belong to us.

Because living inside,

is our Redeemer, Jesus.

May 6, 2023 ~ LKMilam May 2023 Devotions: Fruitful

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Proverbs 11:30-31 ~ 30 ¶The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. 31 ¶Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner. KJV

“The fruit of the righteous – that is to say his life – is not a thing fastened upon him, but it grows out of him…. Look to it more and more that your religion is real, true, natural, vital – not artificial, constrained, superficial, a thing of times, days, places, a fungus produced by excitement, a fermentation generated by meetings and stirred by oratory. We all need a religion which can live either in a wilderness, or in a crowd; a religion which will show itself in every walk of life, and in every company.” (Spurgeon)

One of the greatest exercises of wisdom given by God, is to win souls to God for His honor and glory. Someone shared the Gospel with me, and I got saved. I am the fruit of their "exercise", their obedience to God in sharing the Gospel. I have led many people to the LORD over the years, and I am grateful for each and every one of them. I recently attended the funeral of a one of our dear saints, Miss Annie, who passed suddenly into the arms of the Lord. While at the service, a beautiful young lady walked up to me and said, Miss Linda!  She reached out and gave me the biggest hug and smile ever. She was the granddaughter of Miss Annie.

Aliya shared a precious memory with me. In 2003, I lead Aliya to the Lord as a bus kid! She said she had gone on to graduate from high school, college, and was still forever grateful for the time I took to share the Gospel with her. It soothed my heart in the loss of her grandmother to know that her heritage as a Christian, will continue on.  We will only know in heaven those we may have shared the Gospel with who got saved.  Over my 40 plus years in the Bus ministry - I could share story after story of lives that were changed because of the Gospel. How many you may ask? Heaven will tell! I surely couldn't remember them all. To win a soul for Christ is the ultimate reward here on earth! To win souls, you must love them. To win souls is a battle with the devil. When we love them through Christ, the battle we may face will already have been won!

Carry a Gospel tract with you always; you never know when God will give you the opportunity to win a soul to Christ! Make yourself ready, biblically, heart and soul. Winning souls for the soul winner should be so ingrained in us that we are forever looking for that one who is closest to hell. Win them and snatch them from the clutches of evil and the devil.

Hell was not made for people; it was made for one purpose and that was to divide the devil and his demons from the people and forever from God. The devil will take as many there as he possibly can!  We know that from his own mouth. He can't win, and he will be confined forever and an eternity in the lake of fire along with all those who reject Jesus as their Saviour. Compel them to hear the Gospel, make sure you are ready and fired up to share that Gospel with all that you meet! I am forever grateful that God reminded me through Aliya, that lives of the lost sinner are so worth it!

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

“When He Prayed”
Job 42:10

May I ever realize Christ Atonement in my life, and that I am saved completely by what Jesus did in His death, burial and resurrection. I gratefully accept that, have believed that, and have depended on it. He will keep me saved and I will inter into the Glory world on what He did and nothing that I have done to deserve all of this.

God help me to realize the life of an intercessor, I don’t want to do it off and on, but fully dedicated to it. I am an intercessor! I need more of a vision and more of a burden for the lost, that I might intercede for them.

It doesn’t matter that people don’t recognize me, as long as they can see Jesus  in me. I want to show off Jesus and brag on Him all of the time. I’m saved and I want others to have what I have, I therefore have committed myself to the work of the Lord, that others might be saved; And that He might get the honor, glory and praise out of my life.

I will pray for others, I will intercede for them, because I got in when someone interceded for me, Oh happy day, my sins are washed away.

I am Atoned for,

Saved I am,

“Driven By Passion”
John 21:16

My heart's desire for the people I meet and minister to, is that they will learn more and more about Jesus, and have a knowledge of Him that will keep them ever going forward.

I must know the Lord to the fullest extent possible, so I can be what I’m supposed to be for Him. My desire is to be a complete, disciplined follower of Jesus. Thank God, I finally see who Jesus really is, glory hallelujah!

I realize more than ever, how much I need to be devoted to Jesus and not so much to the things I believe He wants me to do. God help those who do not want Jesus fully as Lord and Master, but only want Him when it is convenient. God help me to be in the will of God as Jesus was, totally submissive.

I believe the proper obedience to the Father, is to be a soul winner. I realize that I must love Jesus first, before I can ever begin to do anything worthwhile, and of course, I can never do enough, because all human life is too frail to be all things to all people. But since Jesus is the Lord of my life, service is unlimited, glory to God! Amen.

“Plant Yourself”

If I only serve people,

I’ll wear myself out.

But if I love and serve Jesus,

I’ll dispel all doubt.

Total devotion, to Him is misunderstood,

All of us could, if only we would.

Every seed that’s planted,

must shed its old shell,

Before harvest has come,

and growth has done well.

May 5, 2023 ~ LKMilam May 2023 Devotions: Fruitful

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Psalms 92:12-15 ~ 12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. KJV

". . . like the palm tree . . ."

Charles Spurgeon said, “When we see a noble palm standing erect, sending all its strength upward in one bold column, and growing amid the dearth and drought of the desert, we have a fine picture of the godly man, who in his uprightness aims alone at the glory of God; and, independent of outward circumstances, is made by divine grace to live and thrive where all things else perish.”

Very nicely said! Psalm 92 is all about the "goodness of God" and His willingness for His children to serve Him so that He can bless them. We don't raise our children a certain way so that they can go against us, we want to reward them for obeying and following the "rules" that are laid out before them. So, it is with God! When we stand in our uprightness as Christians, leaning towards our Saviour and His plans for our lives, the rewards are more than we could ever know! The biggest reward as Christians, we know that our eternal home will be in Heaven!

My husband and I every day, marvel at the Goodness of God. Through His provision, love, guidance, and comfort all day every day! We want you to have that same relationship, and so it is we constantly encourage Christians to follow after Christ. It is one thing to be saved, but if you have not "surrendered" your Christian life to Christ you are missing out on God's very best for your life and that of your family. Then, we also encourage the lost to be saved and to accept the wonderful life God has for them.

May we never ever refuse Him Who loved us enough to send His only Son to die in our place on calvary! Did you read that? That is what God did for you! Be saved today, and Christian, show up in church today! The blessings of God are waiting on you and your decisions to "follow after Him!"

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

May 4, 2023 ~ LKMilam May 2023 Devotions: Fruitful

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Deuteronomy 30:5-6 ~ 5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers. 6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. KJV

God's great mercy is seen throughout the entire Word of God from Genesis to Revelation. And in our passage today, we see in Chapter 30 of Deuteronomy His mercy planned for the Israelites in the latter days. We know that Israel are God's chosen people, and His plan is to restore them to the rightful place in Jerusalem. He knew that soon the Roman Empire would scatter them around the world, but the Bible tells us of their returning "home", to their rightful place. But one thing God's people must do to be truly blessed is to accept Jesus Christ as His Son and the Saviour He sent to save all mankind, not just the Jews, but the Gentiles as well.

This is what verses 5and 6 are talking about. God is going to return His children to their homeland, and they will grow, and increase in size and He will bless them beyond measure. But the day that they get saved, is the day God "circumcises their hearts," taking away the non-belief and removing the scales from their eyes allowing them to see Jesus Christ as Who He is, the Son of God, their Saviour.

We have seen so much happen in the last few decades in Israel, all with God's divine hand in the mix! The Jews are a great power in the world, and yet they are the smallest nation in the world. This is when we remove the Vatican (called a country of its own with 0.17 square miles and Israel having 8,630 square miles.)  Unbelievable what God can do! The nation of Israel is a nation no one should mess with, and yet many try.

God wants the Jews to ". . . love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, . . ." as He does us. When we surrender (circumcise) our hearts to Him, He will surely bless.  I want the best for me and my husband, but I want MORE for our loved ones. Those that we call family. So many of them have professed Jesus as Saviour, and yet so very few actually serve Him, not even attending church in faithfulness. Forgetting the power of prayer, believing in themselves without one thought of the Saviour that gives them their every breath.  My husband and I pray, weep, beg God to bring them back to Him. And one day He will. Either by a heart conversion or calling them home to heaven to soon!

How is your heart? Are you saved; do you know that if you were to die today you would go to heaven? Are you living a life pleasing to our LORD? Have you taught your children the same? Are they saved, or will they spend an eternity separated from you and God in hell? It would be an awful thing mom and dad, to go to heaven and lose your children to HELL.  This life is not promised forever. We have only a small window to insure we are following Christ and bringing our loved ones with us. Please consider these verses God had put in the Bible just for us today. Every dot, or tittle has a purpose and a plan for us. Read again what God wants for our lives, and then just DO IT!

YOU MUST BE SAVED TO ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD! Are you? Make sure! And if you know you are saved, Chrisitan get your heart right with God. To our siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren ~ listen to us! Make your home a place that Jesus would be welcome. Put away the worldly thoughts of "I don't need religion, in my home!" You are right! You need God in your Home!  Make it happen; mom and dad your children's salvation rests on you.

“Don’t Think About It, Just Do It”
Matthew 14:29-30

When I try to figure out the why’s and where’s of God’s calling me out to a work, I will probably never go. I find that I must simply step out and do it, and He always makes a way with blessings to follow.

I must keep Jesus at the forefront of all the things in my life, especially my calling to preach. I know all of my thoughts, and all of my circumstances are directed by the Lord and He wants me to trust Him in it all.

No matter what happens, if I keep my eyes on Jesus, I can never fail. When God speaks to me, in His unmistakable, still small voice, I must harken immediately or I’ll miss getting it done, and will therefore miss a blessing, and moreover, someone might go to hell because I hesitated.

God forbid that I should argue with Him on even the smallest matters. I must train myself to listen for God to speak, and when He does, I must go forward, never waiting, because while I wait, some precious soul may suffer, I must be totally abandoned to Christ, then I will hear Him more clearly.

 “Get Out Of The Boat”

Many criticize Peter for sinking,

And on it they truly do gloat.

But he did better than most

He at least got out of the boat.

Weekly Memory Verses:  John 15:1-5

1 ¶I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

June 17 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“The Condemnation of Criticism”
Matthew 7:1; Romans 2:17-20

God help me never to be critical, but to show love and care. As a Christian, I have no right, because all of my rights have been turned over to Jesus, and it is in him that I must make all of my decisions and judgements. By waiting on God to show us what to do, we will learn never to criticize.

We must watch ourselves continually, to keep from being critical of others. I must remember that when I point at others, I myself am at fault, and part of the same judgement. I think arrogance is the culprit a great deal of the time.

I pray that I can look at others through a telescope rather than a microscope, I believe I wouldn’t pick up as many details to be critical of. I believe that if I look close enough at you, I would have to face some details in my own life, that I would have to deal with. God help us to leave criticism alone.

A good house cleaning is in order if we tend to criticize others all of the time, especially the closets, you know, where we try to hide all of the unwanted stuff and pretend that it doesn’t exist. If I am to be anything, it is what God has done in me, Amen.

 “Gods Measuring Rod”

The Holy Ghost that lives within,

The abiding power that cleanses from sin.

Of criticism and judgement, leave it to Him;

If you’re condemning another,

the light has grown dim.

The way we see it, is different than God’s

He measures all, with the same measuring rod.
