July 17 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Belief, The Power to Produce Effective Results”
I Corinthians 2:4

If I am only out to impress people, my impression of God is not valid. I would become a hypocrite and would draw people away from the gospel, rather than to it. I must be an instrument to draw people to believing Christ, not turn them away. I must have the power of God in my preaching, and believe that when I preach it, others will believe it. I pray that people can see enough of Jesus in me, that they will be persuaded to follow Him.

If there is anything in my life that makes me to be seen more than Jesus’ redemptive work in me, I must get rid of it immediately. It would surely hinder the gospel being presented. I am here to show God to others, to preach the gospel, and that is it. My prayer is that I can preach and present the gospel, so as to draw them to a willingness to change.

I hope that people will not see me as something I am not; O God, that they may see Jesus and the plan of salvation in my preaching, or I have failed. If I ever cease to lift up Jesus, with honor and praise, I don’t want to be here, my work will be finished, and I’ll be of no benefit.

 “The Heart Room”

If I were a stalk,

And gave forth no bloom,

No fragrance could lift a

Desperates’ gloom.

The gospel must flourish

To relieve man's doom,

 And fill with its odors,

An empty heart room.

Daily Jewel:
“I am here to show God to others.”

Bible Reading Schedule: Psalm 132-138

Weekly Memory Verses:  1 Corinthians 1:26-31

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27  But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28  And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29  That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

June 28 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Caught”
Philippians 3:12

I have been caught by God, and I wasn’t even looking for Him; But He was looking for me.  I couldn’t imagine myself being a Christian, but the Holy Spirit came my way and started bothering me. When I was at my lowest point in life, and everything seemed hopeless, He came to me and broke my heart; I received Jesus into my heart, so therefore I was apprehended.

God called me to preach, and then He is equipping me to preach according to His power and the needs of others, not what I think it ought to be. I have one thing to do in this life, and that is to preach the gospel, and praise God! That is exactly what I’m determined to do. God help me not to waver but preach the word of God as it is to men as they are.  Not to show myself as a big “I” and a little “you”, but just another old sinner, apprehended of God. I should have been in Hell a long time ago. Thank God I’m saved!

“I Know”

I’m saved and I know it,

of this I am sure;

‘Twas not I that did it,

but God with His lure.

                        ~ Tom Milam

Daily Jewel:

“Just another old sinner, apprehended of God.”

Bible Reading Schedule: Psalm 18-22

Weekly Memory Verses:  Ephesians 2:1-5

1 ¶And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 ¶But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

“Living By God’s Righteousness”

Philippians 3:9; II Corinthians 5:14

Can we not find full gratitude of mind and heart that we are granted the right and privilege to live for Christ? How that we can openly love and serve Him, seeing we are saved by all that He has done for us in His finished work. And that we are proud proclaimers of it.

Christ is perfect righteousness, and that brings to each believer, though some are weak, and many are cold, to be able to claim His righteousness in us, and He is our only hope of calmness, holy quietness, peace and contentment. We are made perfect only in Christ, “we are not our own, but we are bought with a price”. Divine Grace is our main stay because Jesus is made our righteousness. Distresses may infirm me and bring on affliction, and Satan brings on wave after wave of assaults, and we will endure many hard-life experiences before we lift off of this mud-ball called earth; But Grace, His Grace, will lead me on. John 19:30 says, “It is finished”, that means that nothing is lacking, nothing wanting in the Lord, all has been done, His death, burial and resurrection accomplished it all. I can have joy unspeakable and full of glory and rejoice down in my soul and shout from the pulpit, the valley and the mountain top; “I am complete in Him!”

No matter how unworthy we get, we still belong to Him, no matter how weak, He paid the price for our salvation. I can rest in His strength, His ability and His love.

 “But He”

It is not I, that lives this life,

But He that lives within.

I cannot boast of anything,

But He that forgives my sins.

-Tom Milam

“The Song Of Redemption”

John 6:37

After the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea, without harm, Moses sang a song of Redemption, because God had kept His word, they were saved. And that which was salvation to the Israelites was certain destruction for the Egyptians. (Ex. 15:13)

In that endless day, when we enter into Gods glory, we will be allowed the glorious privilege of singing the song of Redemption. All servants of God, and of the Lamb will raise their voices in harmony and joyful triumph at what Jesus has done for those that have trusted Him in salvation. (John 18:9)

We all have a seat there, a place if you will, in that bright land. All that have been chosen by God, all the redeemed ones, all that the spirit has called, and all that have trusted Christ Jesus as personal Saviour and Lord, shall safely go across.

All of the faithful warriors have gone before us, frontline soldiers, marking the way. We therefore are marching on as the waters stand on a heap on either side of us, as we struggle through the depths of this life of trouble and toil. Our Leader is in the midst of our parted sea, guiding our way. So be of good cheer, my brother, it is the victory song. The last of the army is passing through, it won’t be long until security is reached for body as well as soul.

“Come and  Dine”

Come and dine, we do read,

From My table, you may feed.

Though not worthy are we all,

Tis spread to answer hungers call.

Come and dine is the Master’s plea,

There’s food a-plenty for you and me.

January 10, 2023 ~ January 2023 Devotions: "Radiant"

 And so, I continue. . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Ecclesiastes 8:1 Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. KJV

Who are the wise around us? There are all kinds of wisdom given for various purposes. But those that have gained wisdom through their salvation are the wisest of all. God. There are few wise men in this world and who knows who they? I don't claim to be all wise, but I do know that when I got saved God opened the door of my mind for learning more of Him if I would just seek Him, follow after Him, serve Him, and give HIM all the praise, honor, and glory for any wisdom He may have bestowed upon me.  In comparison to worldly wisdom, I'll take God's wisdom given to men as they ask for it, over any "wise" man of the worldly way. There are few that understand the reasons of things and can rightly expound the word and works of God. When God gives us wisdom, we do become wise in His ways and as the Holy Spirit indwells us this wisdom makes a man respected, Cheerful, mild, and amiable. The face I once portrayed was the face of a lost man. My mind had no thought of the goodness of life, because the mind and the soul will show in our countenance either the band fierceness of the devil and his ways, or the beauty and loveliness of the precious Holy Spirit.

I have seen the face of a lost person change in seconds once they bowed their head in prayer and asked God to save them through the precious blood of Jesus. They may not have any wisdom of the ways of a Christian at that moment, but that one second, that very moment when the blinders are removed from their eyes, they know this is real and so much more is waiting forthem because of their decision!  God wants us to show others through our countenance that salvation is real. The smile, the tears of joy, the change in their countenance is visible!

Wisdom actually brings us in harmony with ourselves.  We get a sense of self-worth and inner peace. This inner peace is achieved because we are acting in accordance with our consciences and avoiding the shame and guilt of following our baser instincts. Do you have inner peace? Do you have wisdom from God? Are you saved and on your way to heaven? Would you like to have the wisdom I write about today?

Proverbs 3:13-18 ~ 3 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

This is the wisdom I seek after, what about you?

Do You Know HIM?

Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.

With love and prayers,

May we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

December 20, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 9:4-5 ~ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. KJV

Jesus came down to earth with a "purpose" on His mind. He already knew the end of His time would be fraught with such unconceivable pain ~ but He came any way.  He had a job to do, one He volunteered for at the beginning of creation; one that would ensure the salvation of all men who would call upon Him as their personal Saviour. When He said, ". . .work the works. . .", they were the works of God. He would complete that task before Him as assigned by the LORD God. Only He could do this, no one else. They were to be done by Christ: the work of redemption for all men, fulfilling the law, and satisfying justice. And besides this, there was the preaching of the Gospel, doing miracles, among these was the giving sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, as spoke of in the Old Testament in Isaiah, chapter 35 and verse 5 "Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped."

Time does not stand still. Jesus knew He had to accomplish all that was assigned to Him in a time period set by God. Soon it would be dark, and no time left. Folks, there will come a time when our work "day" will be over, and the night hours will prevail. While we are above ground, we are to be the workers of Christ and His commission has been passed on to us. God created us for His pleasure and glory, and when things changed in the garden, He still wanted us. Sin passed to all men when Adam and Eve fell, and we have a choice to continue in our own world of sin or turn to Jesus and assure our home in heaven. Jesus said it Himself, ". . .I am the light of the world." Nothing can change that. The devil knew He could not hold Him in Hell, but he had to try. He was still deceiving men and women right along, and he still is. Jesus came to die for you and me; have you given yourself to Him?

The end times are very near. Our scholars and preachers warn us daily of the great day and its soon coming. Signs are everywhere worldwide.  When Jesus steps out on a cloud and calls, "Come up hither my bride, it is your wedding day!" That day when every head shall bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That day when the dead in Christ shall rise, and we who are alive will join them in the air, believe me that day is coming.

Will you be in that throng? Will you be able to bow your head in utter devotion, or in great fear knowing the judgment has come.  Folks Heaven is real!  Hell is real! Judgment is coming!  - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Are you ready? It is our prayer that our entire ministry be one of seeking others to salvation! You still have time if you are breathing. But that moment when your last breath is drawn, it will be to late to make sure of your salvation!

"HE IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!"

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

The Light of the World is Jesus

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in.
The Light of the world is Jesus!

Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!

If you don't know Him, come to Him today!

December 4, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalms 27:1 <<A Psalm of David.>> The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? KJV

Christians, this verse should encourage each and every one of us, especially in the day we live. Some of us are in the battle of our lives, for our family, church, friends, and loved ones. Some are facing insurmountable persecution and ridicule because they have professed their salvation and just want to share The Good News with all that they meet. Some are in financial situations that keep you on your knees day and night, asking God for relief and wisdom on what to do. Some face the fact that they have lost their jobs, can't pay the mortgage, car payments, light bill; but I venture to say that they aren't going hungry. Each month somehow that money comes in from the most unusual ways and we all can testify to the GOODNESS of God and HIS provision for our lives. These situations are in control by the One that loves us, has mercy on us, and has all the solutions.

I have shared in recent posts of our current situation with regards to our 30-day notice to vacate our current mission home, now down to 27 days. We located a place, and we are thankful, but today we find out it is not guaranteed. The owner is looking for cash money - God is our guide folks, and if it be His will, He will also supply the finances! For folks our age, borrowing a large sum of money is a little daunting. But to us and others just like us who face the fact that they have to find a new roof over their heads, any money outside of our current budget is a lot of money. We know God is in the midst and we can be confident in His ever supply, and He always does it in a way that we can honestly give HIM all the praise, honor and glory.

". . .of whom shall I be afraid?"  What men would do to us God will protect, guard, and protect. We are ever grateful for His Light, The Lord Jesus, and the fact that He died for all and reigns in Heaven. Soon He will return, and all of these things will pass away. We long for the day, but until then we will carry on, with His help. The love, prayers, financial support we receive, and the wonderful work we have through and by the preaching of the Gospel, a song here and there, the printing ministry and radio ministry, make it all possible.  Thank you for your big hearts, for believing in our work, and for always supporting us in any way.  May our great Big God bless you all mightily.

As a side note, if anyone would like to share this new financial burden with us, you can send your love offerings to Faith Baptist Church, 3794 Oleander Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34982 and designate it for the Milam's Mission Home.  To God Be the Glory!

December 3, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And So, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalms 18:28-29 ~ For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. 29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. KJV

Christian, when it seems you are facing your darkest battle, and there is NO LIGHT at the end of the tunnel, and there is no way out, it seems you are all alone and no one there, no one to help, that is when you will find that Jesus NEVER leaves us nor forsakes us! He is "the Light of the world" and will provide over and above all that we need. There are a number of verses in the Bible that prove this, but I love this one spoken When David was encouraging Solomon he said in 1 Chronicles 28:20 - "And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD."  None of us leave this life, until we have "finished all the work" and not a moment before. My husband says often, "It's hard to get away from someone who says, they will "never leave you nor forsake you."  And he is so right.

We ae blessed day by day and we know from whom it comes. By the leading of the Holy Spirit, we carry on the "task" He has set before us. We are thankful to be used by God for anything, but we are also doing that work for Him in a world that hates Him. The devil is neverendingly throwing monkey wrenches at us, so to speak, and many of them are overwhelming. This situation we are in regarding a vacate notice of which we have 28 more days. It is difficult. Its Christmas time, but no decorations this year. Its fellowship time around the table, but not this year; it makes me sad, But God! We have found a place and by faith we have secured it with a $1,000 deposit of which God supplied and if He sent us the $1,000, we are confident He will send another $23,000 to pay on 12/30 the day we move out of our little home into a new place. You might ask, "if they didn't have $1,000, where are we going to get $23,000?" GOD. We are going to do what we do best, trust in Him Who ". . .will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, . . ."

We are so thankful for His every blessing, and He is not surprised about what goes on in and around us, and we have not let the devil beat us down. With each turn in the road, you can do the same. If you don't know Him as your personal Saviour, get saved today. Will your way be smooth and trouble free in Him, no not always. But one thing you can trust, "the Light of the world" is Jesus, and He will always be with us through and by the indwelling of the precious Holy Spirit. The devil can't have us, he may mess us up some, but guess what WE WIN! Trust in Him Who is all we need! Thank you for reading and listening. We covet your prayers.

The Light of the World is Jesus

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!

My husband has macular degeneration and has lost the sight in his right eye (legally blind) and is slowly losing sight in his left eye. Everywhere he is, he turns on the lights, even in broad daylight. In the living room, bedroom, his office. Even with the blinds open windows with no coverings it doesn't matter. Turning on the lights gives him that extra level of light that he needs. He supposedly has had all the treatments the doctors can give, and he has learned to live with the fact that in time he will be totally blind.  For a preacher of the Gospel who has traveled over 3 million miles in his ministry, this is devastating. But we serve a living and loving God, and He is the one in control.

The light that led the Israelites was their "light in the living room", so to speak. God was leading them on a journey to return them to their rightful home. He loved His people and had answered their prayers - and all they had to do was ". . .follow the pillar of fire," at night and the ". . . follow that pillar of the cloud by day,". That is what we need to do. Jesus is the light of the world, and we can trust Him with everything we need. He is our "Guide", our "Light", and if we would all follow Him first in believers' salvation, we can trust him to lead us in the path we are on today, both day and night. He definitely is the light to the world. But if you are physically blind, how do you follow? By the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, He lives within us and is always guiding us to the path God has called us on our journey to Heaven.

Many pray for my husband's eyesight, and we thank you, and if you have never prayed for his eyesight before, please do pray for him and keep him on your prayer list.  Yesterday was a momentous day of sorts! Tom had an appointment with his retina specialist, who also is a highly recommended doctor for macular degeneration patients. We have both been seeing him for several years. Because Tom has been experiencing a change in his seeing eye, and he has been burdened even more by the fact that soon the Lord may take his total eyesight, he has written, studied, developed sermons, wrote poetry, with a vengeance. He wants to insure all that God has placed on his heart to do is done. Along with the injury to his shoulder, which has put him in a place to rest and study, it gives him more time to develop his preaching. Thank you for praying and we praise the Lord, he has no pain, and his arm is getting stronger.

We are all many times put in a place just like the Israelites and Tom.  We must follow His light and path and trust His hand of mercy and grace completely. When we do, oh my, the blessings are amazing. Yesterday, Dr. Gallogly was able to give us new news and hope. For that moment he was a shining light in the midst of darkness to come. He assured my sweetheart that there was very little change in his vision in comparison to his last appointment. His thought was stress with all the extra study, and all that was going on in his health, new meds introduced that hurt more than help, and Tom was comforted and assured that his eye was as healthy as it can be. Folks, don't you think we didn't shout and praise the Lord, and Tom testified of the goodness of God to our Doctor. But doctor Gallogly wasn't done. He told Tom that he was positive that a new medication (pill) would be available in January or February that would STOP the progression of his dry eye macular degeneration! He was CONFIDENT IN SHARING THIS WITH TOM, as the studies were amazing with the testing on other like patients was unbelievable. What???

Blessings on Blessings!  Dear God, thank you, thank you, thank you! Praise the Lord! Can we ever thank him enough, I don't think so.

Wherever you are in your life, if you are unsaved, get saved, if you are saved, trust in God's precious hand on your life. Read, study, pray, attend church, give, and believe in the Mercy of God! Thank you for reading a little spot in our lives as your missionaries. We are blessed, honored and forever thankful for each one that prays, gives, supports our work God has placed us in. The rewards are greater than anything you could think of.

The Light of the World is Jesus

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in.
The Light of the world is Jesus!

Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!

If you don't know Him, come to Him today!

October 29, 2022 ~ Devotions: "Harvest"

   And So I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and
tell of all thy wondrous works.   Psalms 26:7 KJV

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. KJV

I am so thankful that God planned this day for me, and this is the day I would study in the book of Colossians. Sometimes, even though I may have read or studied a passage previously, I find that the Bible is alive and real, and through it God teaches me something new each and every time, without a doubt. Today, I learned that no matter who, what, or when I do anything, I must do all well and "heartily" for the Lord's sake - not mine nor men. And when we obey the Lord; talk about icing on the cake - not only can we do whatever we do as if unto the Lord; but our reward will come from God; and His retirement plan is "out of this world"! It makes absolutely no sense that He would reward us with an inheritance simply for applying this principle of working wholeheartedly, but these verses give us incentive to keep the right attitude and perspective in all things, "as unto the Lord" should be our motto

Let me give you my understanding and a little background on our verses; Paul is incarcerated and visited by Epaphras who had just come from the Church of Colossae where he preached, and he was concerned that the church was in danger through some false teachers that had got among them. These deceivers were introducing the "philosophy" of the Gentiles, people who are not from the twelve tribes of Israel and had an entirely different mindset on God, idols etc. Epaphras reported that he had preached, and the people had received the message of the Gospel gladly and supported him and they had a great love for the preachers sent their way that spoke the true Gospel. But he was greatly concerned about the false teachers that were infiltrating and causing doubt in the saints' minds of all that he had taught, and he took this report to Paul while he was in Prison.

Paul then writes this letter of encouragement, and we get the benefit as well. Paul reminded them of the teaching of Epaphras and tells them that he preached as Paul preached and they were to guard themselves from those bad men who would deceive them with their principles. There are many false teachers in the world today, and God warned us of them in Scripture. These verses particularly come to mind.  2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.  Folks, they are in our churches, homes, neighborhoods, community and with social media as we know it today, they spread their philosophies everywhere. Beware!

Paul strongly encouraged or exhorted the church to continue in their duty to God, men, and one another. This is an awesome truth for all believers. It is NOT about us; it is ALL about Him. Once saved, this truth can shape your mindset and understanding of the kingdom of God and where we will be going one day.

When we understand that God wants to be glorified in everything we do, we will fulfill His commandments. It doesn't matter whether it be big or small. All we need to do is work at it for the Lord's sake not for any other reason. These verses are an incredible revelation knowing that the Lord will reward us for the work we do here on earth. Praise the LORD!

So, I want to ask you, do you feel as though your efforts, for the Lord, are nothing compared to others? Are you concerned that you are not doing your part? Maybe that is the Holy Spirit reminding you of what you should be doing? Pray - God will give you discernment on His path for your life.  The work of pastors and missionaries, while important, does not carry any more weight with God than you, or from anyone in some other station of life. Whether you are a deacon, Sunday schoolteacher, janitor, salesman, accountant, housewife; any title you want to put on yourself, as long as we are sharing the truth of the Gospel with others, God is pleased. We do not need to be in full-time ministry to work for the Lord. Why? because it is not what YOU do; it is Who you do it for!

When the Gospel is given in love and compassion, as the Lord taught, it will not go out void! Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “As the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, . . . So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void” (KJV).  Share the Gospel with someone today. If it is a stranger, family member, friend - don't worry about what or how you say it; your effort will be blessed by God. Carry Gospel tracts with you everywhere you go. Leave them everywhere you go.  If you need some tracts, contact me; we print 10's of thousands of them at the printing ministry. Make sure you are the one that shares the Gospel Truth, not mans.

May the Lord bless you really good today!  Go out and win one for the Lord. The HARVEST is full, God just needs us to GO.

Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.

With love and prayers,
LKMilam
