May 20~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Marvelous Loving Kindness”
Psalm 17:1-15; James 1:5-6

It is easy to give of our substance, such as money and things. But it is altogether another matter to give our hearts with what we give. I believe we fail miserably in this respect; God help us to give more unconditionally.

Jesus doesn’t give His favors like we do, He gives the best from the top of the table, and not just the crumbs that fall from it. His gifts are given out from love, we sup with Him out of His own dish, while leaning on the comfort of His breast. He doesn’t give the leftovers, or the old rusty cans that have been discarded; nor does He give the little, small potatoes out of His garden, but the big ones that can be baked and garnished with other things that enhances; that builds upon, and never takes away. Everything that Jesus gives is saturated with His affection and will not trample over the poor man to get to the well-off man. His love is unmatched and undoubted in its sincerity and affection.

All of His gifts and donations are given from a heart that bled for us and yet bleeds as we speak. We cannot weary Him with our asking; He doesn’t get bent out of shape with us for having to give all of the time, and we are not a burden to Him at all. In fact, He is pleased to extend His mercy and grace to us. He is our Saviour and continually gives His life for us, in His pouring out of His attributes and gifts. There is honey a-plenty, not from a dead carcass, but from our living Lord.

“Tis So Sweet”

There’s glad sweetness in the honey,

that’s produced from the heart.

Spiced with His affection,

let us taste and do our part.

“Talking The Talk or Walking the Walk?”
II Corinthians 3:2; I John 2:5,6

Why should it be in our hearts to be able to be like Christ? To walk, talk and think like Him. Jesus says, He wants us to be conformed to His image. Why should we want that more than anything else? It is for our own welfare and spiritual state of soul. Remember, that God said He would be with us, to guide us in paths of righteousness. Why should we complain if He has delivered us from the sickness of sin and replaced it with grace to grow and produce? If we model after anything, it should be Jesus; If we have any hero’s they should be Jesus; And any copying done, should be done after Jesus. Are you wearing the image of Jesus on your heart?

I am happier now, than I’ve ever been, walking more in the footsteps of Jesus. I’m one of the Sons of God, stepping in His footprints doesn’t take as much stretch as it used too. We also should walk like Jesus for the sake of faith, all of our expectations should be to be like Him. Many have belittled this by hypocritical endeavour, remember it was in the house of His friends that Jesus was wounded. Let this be a reminder, it’s not the waves on the outside of the boat that will sink you, It’s the little drips on the inside that will swamp the vessel. All of the weapons of the world, and the devil, holds no light to the kiss of a Judas. False teaching will cause more damage than an outspoken critic or an unbeliever any day.

For the sake of Christ Himself, we should desire to be like Him, to imitate Him in all things. Do you love your Saviour and men alike? Does the mention of His name bring gladness and peace to your heart? Can you see yourself standing with Him over the kingdom of this world? Is it your heart's desire to be glorified as He is, and see precious souls saved? Then let others see Him in you.

“Live It”

The very best way, for others to see their need.

Is the Bible through you, that they might read.

March 18 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Helping Others”

Matthew 25:40; Galatians 2:10

Most Christians are not physically rich, we are generally poor. Have you ever wondered why God allows this? Some people say that if you believe God strong enough that you can prosper monetarily. But that goes against the scripture and the Spirit-filled Christ life. Jesus suffered for us and to say that we can live a life of ease and no suffering would be deceitful and fraudulent. But any of our suffering here will not be compared to the glory that awaits us when we enter our eternal home.

To be a devout follower of Jesus, we are going to have to feed the poor, give drink to strangers, gather clothing for the less fortunate, visit the sick (much neglected ministry) and  get  the  word of God into the prison houses, schoolhouses and going house to house, because that was part of His ministry. This is basic, this we must do, and then you will see some great miraculous things take place in your life and others. To take part in reaching lost souls, is to take part in the greatest miracle known to Heaven and earth.

God could make us all rich and fill our houses and garages full of things that we would adore. God could cause the richest people and nations to bring all of their wealth and deposit it in your account, but for one simple reason He does not. Love is what counts, and He has given us enough and we are blessed with the ability to show our love for Jesus. We show it when we pray to Him and for others, and when we sing of His greatness and compassion. If there were no needy people in the world, we would miss out on sacrificial giving to those less fortunate; this proves that we truly love God and the brethren.

“Giving”

To love the ones that are loved by Him,

Is to sacrificially give;

To be rich in grace and not of the world,

Is to follow Jesus and for Him live.

Romans 6:1-6 ~ 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

“The Best Gift!”

Mark 11:22; Hebrews 11:6

“Have faith in God,” are the four words that will change the life of the lowest gutter bum and the man of highest royalty equally the same. These words will change the heart of an individual and give him power to stand as tall as is needed in any circumstance. In the same instant, having faith in God will bring nations to their knees in recognizing the power of God. This is the best gift that can be received, yet it is squandered, misused and brought to none-effect by a legalistic approach. If we truly have faith in God. Christ will prove Himself through us; because, the life we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God.” (Galatians 2:20)

Faith is what makes our very soul move, and we can say with dignity, grace and authority, “in Him do we live and move and have our being.” Faith is the oil that keeps down the wear of the hubs of devotion and commitment. Without faith our axles would heat-up, lock-up and break-up, and we would realize the old country saying, “my axles are dragging, and I can’t carry the load.” By faith, nothing can stop us, we can do all things; By faith we will have inclination and power to serve the Lord and become a person with God that will serve Him the best. It takes just a little faith to get saved, but it takes great faith to do great things. Great faith sees a mountain as only a speed bump and sees the giants arrayed in battle garments as only a slight hinderance on the way to the full battle. If you would be a cheerful soldier, whether battling day or night, then have faith in God. Little faith will bring little co
ntentment, but great faith will bring great light and will disperse the shadows of unbelief.

“Faith”

If you love the shadows of misery and gloom,

Then little faith will be your doom;

But if sunshine you seek,

and rejoicing your song,

Then it’s great faith that’ll keep you

singing along.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-10 ~ 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

March 2, 2023, ~ Linda K. Milam March Devotions: "First Mary, Then Martha"

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Luke 10:40-42 ~ 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. KJV

We have many choices in life, because of our loving God. The most important choice we will ever make is regarding our salvation. Once we have confirmed with God that our souls are safely IN HIS HANDS, we are compelled to obey the Word of God, do His will, learn more about Jesus, and win souls. It can be a very delicate balance when we are actively serving in the ministry in any capacity. Don't let your "duties" get in the way of your worship for our Saviour.

Martha is a prime example of how this can happen to the very best of us. Martha had the GREAT HONOR of having God the Son sit in her living room and be very near to her and her family! She could reach out and touch Him, worship Him, and bestow her love for Him. She was so excited knowing He was coming, and she had much to do to prepare for this auspicious visit. She began to prepare a menu, shop, clean the house, and make everything "just so" for the soon arrival of her special guests. We do the same thing, don't we? When you are expecting invited guests in your home, don't you rush around getting ready for them? I do. I used to get so wired up on is the "house clean" that sometimes I would miss the actual purpose of the guests; and that is sweet fellowship around the table and God's provisions. I just read a little quote you might find funny, but true.  "I can get more done in 10 minutes in my house when I know the Preacher is coming for a surprise quick visit, than I can all day long!"  ME! I admit it.

Martha had a "chore" to complete, a "task" that she took on herself. And when her guests arrived, she was still at it. Molding the loaf of bread for the oven, setting the table, making things ready for her guests to have a wonderful meal.  All of this is good, but she lost what should have been her main focus. She was so involved in preparing the home - she forgot to prepare her heart. Folks, when we have a task before us in the ministry ~ we PRAY BIG! Our God is our Guide and our Leader, and we want most of all to please Him and perform our duties and service as He guides us! Martha I am sure knew that, but she got caught up in her "duties" vs. sitting at the feet of Jesus as Mary did.

We start our day at 6am to insure we get our 2-3 hours of study, meditation, praying, and reading and studying the Word of God. Most days we don't go to bed till midnight, and by the way, this is getting a little more difficult as our age carries on. I am grateful for this time; it makes my day complete before it even begins. I love Martha's work ethics, but I love more Mary's devotion to the Lord as she sat at His feet. Here comes Martha's thorn, of which the Lord knew all about to begin with. She wanted Mary to get up and help her. . . and she complained to the Lord about the fact that she was still sitting at Jesus feet.

Folks it is all good to serve the Lord, but as Mary, it is better to serve Him completely and devotedly letting nothing else get between her and the Lord at particular times. O that we would take this great advice and do the same; put Him first. Martha chose her path to serve Him, and that was good, but she lost her focus when her service became more important than her worship to the King of Kings! It is ALL ABOUT HIM! Let's remember that in our own lives.

February 26, 2023, ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. KJV

"Because God, for Christ's sake, has forgiven you, therefore be ye followers of God, imitators of God. Resemble him especially in his love and pardoning goodness, as becomes those beloved by their heavenly Father. In Christ's sacrifice his love triumphs, and we are to consider it fully." (Spurgeon)

Who loved us the most, God or His Son? What a crazy question? But think about it a minute. Would it be harder for you to die for others or watch your son die for others? Whose love would be the greatest? Well, in the case of Jesus and God, they are one in the same with the Holy Spirit. But Jesus precious blood shed on Calvary (not just a little bit, but all of it) was the offering and sacrifice that had to happen to cover the sins of all man. He shed this blood out of love for us, and for the Father in Heaven Who demanded a holy sacrifice for sin. Only Jesus blood would be that ". . . sweetsmelling savour." God was waiting for.

Paul is instructing the Christians to walk in love as Jesus did for us. We are to follow after Him in character towards others. He loved us so much that He made a way for us to go to heaven, and I am forever thankful that on that day I asked Jesus to save me, HE DID. That is what He died for. He is not going to turn any of us down if we come to Him with a humble, broken-hearted spirit wanting only to admit to Him that we are sinners looking for forgiveness, and that we love Him, asking for our salvation, and then knowing that no matter what happens, we will be in Heaven with Him one day. He loves us and that is how we are to love others.

But others around us are still lost, fumbling around in a world full of sin and selfishness and yet they KNOW that there is more, not knowing that Jesus can give them total freedom. There is something missing and that is a life without Christ. When they admit their inability to do anything for themselves to save them from the awful sinful life they live, and if they want relief and help, and to get that help they must surrender in sorrow and humbleness before a Holy God and beg forgiveness, repenting of their sin, and asking Jesus to save them. Until then, they will stay lost in this awful world and if they die before Jesus returns, they will forever burn in hell. They need the Gospel and if you are a Christian around people like this, you MUST share the GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST! It is the lost persons way to sanctuary and life ever after in Jesus.

Friend, are you lost? Have you ever realized that you are a sinner, and your final destination is hell? Have you admitted to yourself you need help, and you aren't sure where to turn for that help? May I suggest to you that you might need to be saved? John 3:16 says it all! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Whosoever in this verse means "whosoever" ~ not just for some but ALL. For you! Won't you ask Him to be your Saviour today? He is ever so loving and He is waiting, just for YOU! Make this Lord's day, February 26, 2023, the day that you turn your whole life around. He loves you.

HE LOVES US!

February 21 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Sure Promises!”

Hebrews 13:5

You can go with that brother, you can fight battles with those words, and come out a conqueror. You can face life head-on, giants will become small, when you look at the whole war, we are winners with these promises, that “He said, He would never leave nor forsake us, “He said it, that is God's promise, His Covenant with His Children. Fighting or nested in green pastures, turmoil or still waters, “He said”, that He would be there.

We are taught to search the scriptures, for in them we think ye have eternal life, because “He said”, (John 5:39) Are you looking for answers? Do you need a promise?  Do you need some medicine for your ailment?  Look in the Scripture if God promises to be with you in any one thing, then His promise is valid in “all way, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20) We should study the scripture, (II Timothy 2:15) and memorize them, and surely, we should study of His promises and know them, for our own sakes, the cause of Christ and to be able to give an answer to others about what God has said! We will work hard at memorizing things to hold down a job, or we’ll memorize to impress others, or challenge ourselves, but what about learning to know the words of God and His promises? This is the key to knowledge and wisdom and to knowing God. Do you want to walk in an obedient and a divine walk with God? Then learn what “He hath said!”

“The Well”

Let Gods word, be a well, of water overflowing,

On the well curb sit, take a grip and challenge yourself to knowing.

Spend time at the well, drink often from it,

and of its bounty you’ll be growing.

                                                -Tom Milam

Daily Jewel:

“He said that he would be there.”

Daily Scripture Reading: Numbers 16-18

Weekly Memory Verses: II Timothy 2:11-15

2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

With love and prayers,
May we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

February 20, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

And so, I continue. . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.

Psalms 26:7 KJV

Luke 7:12-14 ~ 12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. KJV

Was it an "accident" that Jesus was coming to the gate when they were carrying out the dead young man? I say NO accident. Our Lord is aware of every thing that goes on around us and He is there watching with such compassion. He wants to help us but many times in our troubled times, we don't seek after Him for help first. We have to go to this one and that one telling of the sad story of our circumstances. Folks, He is the Great Healer, Salvation Giver, and enemy Slayer! His compassion is never ending and we should emulate His great love and compassion for others.

1 John 3:17 "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." It is our duty to share the bounty of God's blessings with those who are less fortunate. And if we have to give sacrificially, so be it! Anything I have God gave me and He will replenish my giving over and above! He always does. Likely those that we need to reach with the Gospel are the poorest among us, the most needy. The rich are happy and contented with their riches, but many times have no compassion for those in need.

May we learn to love with compassion and give as if it were Jesus Himself giving. You will give honor and glory to Him Who provided the where with all to give anything at all!

In the name of Jesus, may we be HIS emissaries and used by Him to help others.

HE CARES! Do You Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and
prayers,
May we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
