May 1, 2023 ~ LKMilam May 2023 Devotions: Fruitful

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Genesis 1:11-12 ~ 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. KJV

From the very beginning everything God created was to be fruitful. In our verses here God is creating the earth as we live in. He created them with the thought of continuing the cycle of birth, life, death. Fruitful from the blades of grass springing forth from the ground to the trees and their fruit producing abilities. I do notice in verse 12, that God makes mention that the yielding fruit would be ". . . after his kind, . . ." Have you ever wondered why He would say this? Maybe he knew that man, of which he had not even created yet, would take nearly every species of every kind on earth and practice scientific methods to procreate cross breeds from plants, animals, and even growing a living being from seeds in a cup. This was not God's plan. He made male and female of everything He created.... that was it!

Fruitfulness of any kind is good, as God said. I want to be fruitful even now. How can I be fruitful? I am a Christian and I can lead another person to the Lord so that they are a Christian and they can lead someone else to the Lord, who will a be a Christian. I know this pleases God. When it comes time to stand before God, will we be able to say that we were fruitful for His honor and glory, and many Christians came up behind us because of our effort to win souls to the Lord?

Make that a part of your everyday life to seek out the lost and bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

May 20~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Marvelous Loving Kindness”
Psalm 17:1-15; James 1:5-6

It is easy to give of our substance, such as money and things. But it is altogether another matter to give our hearts with what we give. I believe we fail miserably in this respect; God help us to give more unconditionally.

Jesus doesn’t give His favors like we do, He gives the best from the top of the table, and not just the crumbs that fall from it. His gifts are given out from love, we sup with Him out of His own dish, while leaning on the comfort of His breast. He doesn’t give the leftovers, or the old rusty cans that have been discarded; nor does He give the little, small potatoes out of His garden, but the big ones that can be baked and garnished with other things that enhances; that builds upon, and never takes away. Everything that Jesus gives is saturated with His affection and will not trample over the poor man to get to the well-off man. His love is unmatched and undoubted in its sincerity and affection.

All of His gifts and donations are given from a heart that bled for us and yet bleeds as we speak. We cannot weary Him with our asking; He doesn’t get bent out of shape with us for having to give all of the time, and we are not a burden to Him at all. In fact, He is pleased to extend His mercy and grace to us. He is our Saviour and continually gives His life for us, in His pouring out of His attributes and gifts. There is honey a-plenty, not from a dead carcass, but from our living Lord.

“Tis So Sweet”

There’s glad sweetness in the honey,

that’s produced from the heart.

Spiced with His affection,

let us taste and do our part.

                            ~ Tom Milam

Daily Jewel:

“Everything that Jesus gives is saturated with his affection.”

Bible Reading Schedule: I Chronicles 27-29

Weekly Memory Verses:  Romans 8:14-18

Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

April 1, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam March Devotions: "The Good Shepherd

And so, I continue. . .  That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Psalms 23:1-3 ~ <<A Psalm of David.>> The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. KJV

Charles Spurgeon wrote, I like to recall the fact that this psalm was written by David, probably when he was a king. He had been a shepherd, and he was not ashamed of his former occupation.”

“It [Psalm 23] has charmed more griefs to rest than all the philosophy of the world. It has remanded to their dungeon more felon thoughts, more black doubts, more thieving sorrows, than there are sands on the sea-shore. It has comforted the noble host of the poor. It has sung courage to the army of the disappointed. It has poured balm and consolation into the heart of the sick, of captives in dungeons, of widows in their pinching griefs, of orphans in their loneliness. Dying soldiers have died easier as it was read to them; ghastly hospitals have been illuminated; it has visited the prisoner, and broken his chains, and, like Peter’s angel, led him forth in imagination, and sung him back to his home again. It has made the dying Christian slave freer than his master, and consoled those whom, dying, he left behind mourning, not so much that he was gone, as because they were left behind, and could not go, too.” (Henry Ward Beecher, cited in Charles Spurgeon)

Who is your shepherd? Throughout the Bible, the use of a "shepherd" in comparison to our Saviour is mentioned a number of times, and one of my favorite verses is: Ezekiel 34:12  As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day." This verse tells me that our Saviour will find me no matter where I am. But He can only do that because I am one of HIS sheep. Praise the Lord for the day of my salvation. He is all to me! It is also a familiar idea throughout the Bible that the LORD is a shepherd to His people. The idea begins as early as the Book of Genesis, where Jacob called the LORD the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel (Genesis 49:24). "But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)"

I am so thankful that He never gave up on me, and called me continually as a shepherd calls for his sheep. We are blessed among many!

May the God of all creation give you strength, power, peace and may He ever be FIRST in our lives!

HE CARES! Do You Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

January 21, 2023 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“The Song Of Redemption”

John 6:37

After the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea, without harm, Moses sang a song of Redemption, because God had kept His word, they were saved. And that which was salvation to the Israelites was certain destruction for the Egyptians. (Ex. 15:13)

In that endless day, when we enter into Gods glory, we will be allowed the glorious privilege of singing the song of Redemption. All servants of God, and of the Lamb will raise their voices in harmony and joyful triumph at what Jesus has done for those that have trusted Him in salvation. (John 18:9)

We all have a seat there, a place if you will, in that bright land. All that have been chosen by God, all the redeemed ones, all that the spirit has called, and all that have trusted Christ Jesus as personal Saviour and Lord, shall safely go across.

All of the faithful warriors have gone before us, frontline soldiers, marking the way. We therefore are marching on as the waters stand on a heap on either side of us, as we struggle through the depths of this life of trouble and toil. Our Leader is in the midst of our parted sea, guiding our way. So be of good cheer, my brother, it is the victory song. The last of the army is passing through, it won’t be long until security is reached for body as well as soul.

“Come and  Dine”

Come and dine, we do read,

From My table, you may feed.

Though not worthy are we all,

Tis spread to answer hungers call.

Come and dine is the Master’s plea,

There’s food a-plenty for you and me.

                                          -Tom Milam

December 25, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.
  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Romans 13:11-12 ~ 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. KJV

When you read Romans 13 - it is all about what a Christians obligations are to government. In more detail, because God is in control of ALL, even rulers are put in place for HIS END PURPOSE. They may think they are in control, and they try to convince others of this, but we know God is in control.  We are to subject ourselves to governing authorities because they are appointed by God and serve a purpose in His plan. Sometimes they are good rulers, and other times, rotten rulers. Whether they be a Prince, King, Shah, President; no matter, they are where they are because of God, and we are the same. When we go against Gods plan, only devastation will come.  I may not like all that goes on in our world's government, no matter the nation, evil acts the same way.

BUT GOD! We have a Christian duty to stay away from the darkness of the world and let the Light of Jesus shine through our souls and permeate the world around us. It is by His grace, sacrifice and love that we have the power of God to do this. ". . put on the armour of light." That is our duty. Pray for our government leaders and beg God to intervene as He wills. That is our duty, Christian. We carry on the Gospel and the Banner of Love in His name.  He will take care of all the rest!

Now, a little different message for this special day we call Christmas. The day we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ! Let His light shine through you, and if you do not know Him as your personal Saviour, make that happen today. Just a matter of repenting of the sin in your life, turn away from that place you are now and turn to Jesus. He will forever be your advocator at the throne of God. Allow Him to send the Holy Spirit to indwell within you, be your comforter in all situations and give you power to defeat satan and his demons!  God loves you and we love you as well.

Thank you to all who have been a part of our ministries in any way. Our prayer is God will send special blessings to you and yours.  Merry Christmas! And A Happy New Year!

Tom and Linda Milam

"HE IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!"

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

The Light of the World is Jesus

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in.
The Light of the world is Jesus!

Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.

December 17, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 1:6-9 ~ 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.  KJV

John was the "forerunner" of Jesus Christ. The messenger sent by God to announce the soon coming of the Messiah. They were Cousins by birth, brothers by new birth, and ready to be the forerunner, blessed to be used by God to spread the Good News, of the coming of the Saviour, the Messiah. We have this same task today as Christians. No one in our presence should ever leave us before we have spoken of the Saviour, passed out a Gospel Tract, proclaimed His work on earth, death, resurrection, and ruling overall.  It is OUR commission to be sent by God as was John's.

The Bible is explicit on what God expected from John, and us. Some consider John's ministry to be the greatest that ever was or will ever be, besides Jesus. The angel of God in Luke 1:15 said this about John, "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb." John had a VERY important job assigned to him by God. From his mother's womb he recognized Christ! And he would maintain his purity and then preach wholeheartedly the coming Saviour!

Luke 1:41  And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

John, not yet born, leaped inside Elisabeth when Mary came to visit her cousin. John would go before Christ Jesus to prepare the people for His coming and he was called by the angel of God as mentioned before, to “be great before the LORD,” would and to “be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” These verses are not knew verses to many of us, but when I read that he leaped inside the womb at the sound of Mary’s voice I got such an excited feeling. My Saviour was on the way!  Then I thought, God knew John in the womb, before he was born, before he drew his first breath. If this does not convict the abortionist, nothing will. The people that are responsible for these murders, will rue the day they did not give their child life to fulfill God's calling. Millions of babies have already been killed and mutilated inside and outside the womb. These millions are in Heaven right now, worshiping the King of Glory! Praise the Lord for that. I can't wait to meet them.  We can be thankful that God has given us mercy on all of our sins.

Oh, the Joy Elisabeth felt at that moment when her baby, John, recognized Jesus when Mary came near to Elisabeth.! The moment she knows the Messiah had been conceived and was growing in the belly of her cousin, Oh happy day! The Light Of The World would be born soon. These two women, chosen by God for a special work, one to bare the forerunner, John, and of the one to bare the Messiah. I cannot even fathom that, but I am one of the benefactors of their obedience to God over 2,000 years ago.

This time of year, when millions worldwide recognize the birth of Christ, is the time when Christians proclaim the name of Jesus, just as Elisabeth did. JESUS CHRIST, born of a virgin, lived as a man, and died a King. He went from the womb to a cradle, to a cross of destruction, and to Heaven as the King! Blessed beyond measure as we give praise and all honor to Him who came for us.

Luke 1:76-79 ~  76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; 77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, 79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. 80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

"THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!"

December 5, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue. . . . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalms 89:14-16 ~ Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. 15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. KJV

As a Christian the safest place for me to be is in the presence of my Lord.  When I keep myself near to Him in every aspect of my life, I only ensure the fact that He is right there to cheer me on in hard times, bless me with His presence in and by the Holy Spirit which indwells me always; lead, guard, guide and protect me from the devil's bombardment. Each day I walk closer to Him, He gets closer to me. If I could describe in words what that means to me, I would call it "almost heaven".

We are still looking for a home and we have 24 more days. A daunting task for folks who live day by day in a world that has gone crazy financially. The economy is causing everything to go up in prices and that includes housing. Rentals in this area are way beyond our budget, BUT GOD. At the end of this journey, we know that He will receive all honor, praise and glory for He is our Great Provider. May we always remember it is He that is in control, not the world. This story of recovery in a hard time will be one that we will thankfully share as a testimony of His goodness to us. What this world may mean as evil or bad towards God's people, is only a training ground to grow us spiritually, help us to stay in the presence of God in prayer longer, and serve Him with more zeal than ever before.

He truly is the "Light of the World", and we know that through our faithfulness His righteousness will SHINE. Are you struggling? Single Mom are you at your wits end with no help? Sick Christian are you ready to go home, or do you know you are on this journey to meet people you can share the Gospel with?  One of our precious volunteers, Mrs. Cora Kern broke her hip, had surgery and has been in a nursing home for rehab for quite a while now. As we visited her the other day, she could have complained the entire time we were there. But shortly after we hugged each other up and she wept for a while because of pain, she began to praise the Lord. When she is at her home she doesn't get out much other than to go to church and it is rare she gets to meet folks that are not already saved.  But she shared this wonderful story of how thankful she was that she broke her hip and was in a place surrounded by people that she has been able to share the Gospel to. Through her testimony, she has shared the Gospel with almost all of her caregivers. Praise the Lord!

Folks, that sad weepy face we walked in to, began to change as she talked of the "goodness of God," and you could truly see the light of the Saviour on her face! After her tears dried up and we began to talk and listen, she began to weep again. Thanking God that He allowed her to be somewhere she could share the Gospel with lost people. May God burn within our hearts the deep desire that Mrs. Cora has to win souls. So many are lost and dying without God. Their destination sadly is HELL. It is just a plain fact, people who reject Jesus as their Saviour are on a one-way trip to hell.  Christian unless we get a burden for these folks as Mrs. Cora has, there will be no hope for them. I can't wait to go back and visit this dear precious soul and see how God has used her in her journey called life. Please pray for her, that God will give her souls for her labor, and soon bring her back to her home.

Please continue to pray for our new Mission Dwelling! God knows and will provide.

The Light of the World is Jesus

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in.
The Light of the world is Jesus!

Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!

If you don't know Him, come to Him today!

Help us Lord, to be wise in our homelife and all that is going on with that. Thank you in advance, Lord, for working out our situation for a home in FL. I pray for those who can give financially to be a help to us in this time of need. We know you are our great Provider, and we can't thank you enough. We thank you Lord for your wonderful mercy in Tom's eyes and ask that you would heal him completely or at least allow the drug to work. We love you Lord and thank you for first loving us. Amen.

December 4, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalms 27:1 <<A Psalm of David.>> The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? KJV

Christians, this verse should encourage each and every one of us, especially in the day we live. Some of us are in the battle of our lives, for our family, church, friends, and loved ones. Some are facing insurmountable persecution and ridicule because they have professed their salvation and just want to share The Good News with all that they meet. Some are in financial situations that keep you on your knees day and night, asking God for relief and wisdom on what to do. Some face the fact that they have lost their jobs, can't pay the mortgage, car payments, light bill; but I venture to say that they aren't going hungry. Each month somehow that money comes in from the most unusual ways and we all can testify to the GOODNESS of God and HIS provision for our lives. These situations are in control by the One that loves us, has mercy on us, and has all the solutions.

I have shared in recent posts of our current situation with regards to our 30-day notice to vacate our current mission home, now down to 27 days. We located a place, and we are thankful, but today we find out it is not guaranteed. The owner is looking for cash money - God is our guide folks, and if it be His will, He will also supply the finances! For folks our age, borrowing a large sum of money is a little daunting. But to us and others just like us who face the fact that they have to find a new roof over their heads, any money outside of our current budget is a lot of money. We know God is in the midst and we can be confident in His ever supply, and He always does it in a way that we can honestly give HIM all the praise, honor and glory.

". . .of whom shall I be afraid?"  What men would do to us God will protect, guard, and protect. We are ever grateful for His Light, The Lord Jesus, and the fact that He died for all and reigns in Heaven. Soon He will return, and all of these things will pass away. We long for the day, but until then we will carry on, with His help. The love, prayers, financial support we receive, and the wonderful work we have through and by the preaching of the Gospel, a song here and there, the printing ministry and radio ministry, make it all possible.  Thank you for your big hearts, for believing in our work, and for always supporting us in any way.  May our great Big God bless you all mightily.

As a side note, if anyone would like to share this new financial burden with us, you can send your love offerings to Faith Baptist Church, 3794 Oleander Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34982 and designate it for the Milam's Mission Home.  To God Be the Glory!

December 3, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And So, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalms 18:28-29 ~ For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. 29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. KJV

Christian, when it seems you are facing your darkest battle, and there is NO LIGHT at the end of the tunnel, and there is no way out, it seems you are all alone and no one there, no one to help, that is when you will find that Jesus NEVER leaves us nor forsakes us! He is "the Light of the world" and will provide over and above all that we need. There are a number of verses in the Bible that prove this, but I love this one spoken When David was encouraging Solomon he said in 1 Chronicles 28:20 - "And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD."  None of us leave this life, until we have "finished all the work" and not a moment before. My husband says often, "It's hard to get away from someone who says, they will "never leave you nor forsake you."  And he is so right.

We ae blessed day by day and we know from whom it comes. By the leading of the Holy Spirit, we carry on the "task" He has set before us. We are thankful to be used by God for anything, but we are also doing that work for Him in a world that hates Him. The devil is neverendingly throwing monkey wrenches at us, so to speak, and many of them are overwhelming. This situation we are in regarding a vacate notice of which we have 28 more days. It is difficult. Its Christmas time, but no decorations this year. Its fellowship time around the table, but not this year; it makes me sad, But God! We have found a place and by faith we have secured it with a $1,000 deposit of which God supplied and if He sent us the $1,000, we are confident He will send another $23,000 to pay on 12/30 the day we move out of our little home into a new place. You might ask, "if they didn't have $1,000, where are we going to get $23,000?" GOD. We are going to do what we do best, trust in Him Who ". . .will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, . . ."

We are so thankful for His every blessing, and He is not surprised about what goes on in and around us, and we have not let the devil beat us down. With each turn in the road, you can do the same. If you don't know Him as your personal Saviour, get saved today. Will your way be smooth and trouble free in Him, no not always. But one thing you can trust, "the Light of the world" is Jesus, and He will always be with us through and by the indwelling of the precious Holy Spirit. The devil can't have us, he may mess us up some, but guess what WE WIN! Trust in Him Who is all we need! Thank you for reading and listening. We covet your prayers.
