June 15 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Add to Your Faith”
II Peter 1:5

As believers we have inherited the divine nature, and as such we will look for holy things to add to our lives, they will not drop out of the sky.  What I am when no one else is looking is what makes my character, but my habits are the things I put on purposely. So, I must learn spiritual wisdom to make sure I have good habits rather than bad ones, full of worldliness.

I must obey in all of life matters, because God is living in me through all of my highs and lows. Day in and day out, I must follow Jesus, no matter what happens. Life is hard, but the joy that awaits the saint does not compare to the drudgery sustained in this life.

Adding to our faith is the most difficult part of living the Christian life. It seems to be better, just to get saved, do nothing; make no splash, ripple no water or cause no controversy, and wait on the Lord to call us away in a good number of years. But God is guiding us through our circumstances of life, and we have no fear, because we’re winners through Christ, and we can’t miss.

“Awake”

We are saved day by day,

through circumstantial life.

Us, He guards and watches over,

through all pain and strife.

Duty is mine to do for Him,

not duty’s sake;

But, because of obedient faith,

a desire in me will awake.

Daily Jewel:

“What I am when no one else is looking, is what makes my character.”

Bible Reading Schedule: Job 1-4

Weekly Memory Verses:  John 15:1-5

1 ¶I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
