June 9 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Hate Evil”
Psalm 97:10

It is right to hate wrong, look what the evil things have done. Look how sin has blinded, that the beauty of the Saviour has been blotted out. Ears have been made not to hear the merciful pleadings of invitation by the Master. It is sin that made your feet walk in paths of unrighteousness and followed the ways of death. We were poisoned by sin and our hearts were made into discolored marble stone. In chapter seventeen, verse nine, Jeremiah says of the sinful heart, “it is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” We were not near to God, but far away, an heir of evil wrath was our fortune. Our feet carried us to mingle with other fellows of wrath and evil. We all were like that, but we have a blessed reminder in Paul's teaching. I Corinthians 6:11 says; “but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” So, we ought to hate evil and have good reason to. Look what all it has done. It will help you to remember where you could have been, had it not been for a redeeming love as Christs’. We would have been lost and without hope. Evil is yet our enemy. Striving every moment to hurt and dismantle our testimony, it is right then to hate evil. In Christ we can live happy and die in peace. So, we should hunger for holiness while hating evil. Spend more time with Jesus and you’ll have less time with evil.

“The Fate of Hate”

To love the Saviour as I should,

Evil I must hate.

To love the evil as I would,

Would bring a dreadful fate.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
