“In My Father’s House....”
John 14:1-3; Hebrews 10:25
To the believer, it is a grand thing to wake up each day, longing to commune with God, seeking His face, and desiring to worship again in His house. It is always a thrill to go to the Fathers house.
When my dad was alive, he lived in an apartment nearby me; Mom is gone on, her home is now with Jesus. But when mom and dad were still together it was a most joyous thing to go to their house when all of the other members of our family would gather for dinner and catch up on all of the different happenings in each of our lives. And as I glance briefly back, some thoughts come to mind about the Father’s house, that lifts me to praise my Redeemer, for some things I can expect to find at the Father’s, where there are “many mansions.”
First, we find the mansion of Solitude. This is a place where we can find rest and time alone with our father; though many others are around we can find comfort in knowing that everything is alright; we’re at the Father’s house. Secondly, we find the mansion of Satisfaction. Here we find safety, and a place for restoration, pleasure and contentment. Thirdly, we find the mansion of Singing. What a thrill it was to gather around and sing in revelry to God in our family. What a thrill it will be to sing once again, together in the Father’s house. Fourthly, is the mansion of Security. Though unworthy we’ve been, here we’ll find rewards for faithfulness. Finally, we see the mansion of Singleness of heart. Everyone is respected the same at the Father’s house, all is in harmony, no discord and misunderstanding, when we gather at the Father’s house.
“Go Home Again”
“If going home, seems to be such a bother,
Then you are out of fellowship with your father.
Go home again wayward one,
Embrace your father and be a son...”
-Tom Milam
