February 7, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

And so, I continue. . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Psalms 79:8-9 ~ O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake. KJV

Because Israel ignored God’s true messenger (Jeremiah), judgment came upon His people, and they were completely unprepared for it. Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians and many of God's chosen ones were killed and left in the fields never to be buried in their expected graves. The ultimate of shame and sin. There is just so long that God will put up with sin and disobedience.

This event was so traumatic and important in the scope of Jewish history that it is described four times in the Hebrew Scriptures: 2 Kings 252 Chronicles 36:11-21Jeremiah 39:1-14, and Jeremiah 52God would have this event recorded in His holy Word for all to read and remember that we can be chastised in very hard ways when we go against God's will for our lives!

It was a very hard time, and I know from my own experience, that the hard times in my life, brought on by myself, have made me know after the fact, that God did not hate me and therefore hurt me, in fact He loved me so much He chastised me by taking His hand off of my life so that I might choose to come back to Him. Through my "learning" experience I found it hard to see how this event in my life was going to do me any good. But GOD! I learned through trial and error that the safest, bestest, place to be is in the will God.

This plea of forgiveness by the psalmist for himself and God's people, will be met with mercy, grace, and great COMPASSION from God. Because, THAT IS GOD! It is not what God wants for our lives, the sin and disobedience; but because in His creation. He gave us a will, a choice, an opportunity to miss all that the devil throws at us with foreknowledge that the old evil one cannot take our souls. He may hurt our bodies, even our minds, but once our soul has been committed into God's hands through grace and salvation offered by His Son and HIS blood shed, we are bound for heaven. Many have made that decision and there are many who have not. God is not shorthanded or deaf that He cannot save the lowest of low when they call out to Him to save them. Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

You may think you are on the bottom of the totem pole, but don't be too sure of that. God certainly has not taken back the salvation from anyone. It is given and permanent. It is a blessing and a hope!  Heaven is my destination - how about yours? There are only TWO places' people will end up at death. Heaven or Hell. You have time to make that choice for heaven. If you are reading this post, I implore you as the psalmist so eloquently penned, ASK FOR FORGIVENESS AND ALLOW GOD TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE!

HE CARES! Do You Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, May we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
