"Let God Prime Your Pump" |
II Corinthians 1:3; Psalms 94:19
When a person is stricken with despair, all of his friends and relatives can gather around and try to relieve his misery and try to advise him to look to God. He will more than likely appreciate all of the attention and concern and with tears and shattered nerves, he’ll openly say, “you just don’t understand how I feel." Try as hard as you can, you’ll not have the power to convince him to look at his problem the way you think he should. But let God come to His despairing child, as he lays out before Him, God will change the situation, He will raise up His child out of hopelessness to hope again.
All of us together could not bring help and cheer to our distressed brother, but the Lord has done it, because He is the God of all comfort. There may not be any balm in Gilead, but there is plenteous balm with God. Creation holds not the physician, but the Creator holds the healing power. Trust in Him, let God speak, and it is done. God will take desperation and turn it into delight; Go to Him and ask Him to console you; Are you dry and destitute? Let God prime your pump and fill you afresh from His water of gladness and joy. Every father will respond to the lonely cry of his child. Friends and family can offer only temporary solutions, but God will bring help of eternal value. (II Corinthians 7:6) “God, that comforteth those that are cast down.”
“Claims”
We have the victory, claim it now,
lay all your care on God;
He sent His Son to bear the pain,
as we trust and onward trod.

Weekly Memory Verses: II Timothy 2:11-15
2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
