“We Are Debtors”
Romans 8:5-13
God never changes, though we change many times in the course of life, He has the same prescription for fallen man now as He did in the beginning. As a sinner, we owed God everything, we broke His laws; He said “do”, and we didn’t, He said “don’t” and we did. We are tremendous violators of His justice. We owe much more than we can ever pay, aren’t you glad that “Jesus paid it all, and all to Him we owe.” Now instead of trying to pay a hard debt to Gods righteous justice, we owe the more to love, we are debtors now to Gods wonderful grace and mercy, I will never be accused of what I owe to Justice because the debt has been paid; when He said on the cross, “It is finished”. That means that the unpayable debt that we owed, was redeemed for, and will never be brought up again.
I read where someone said, that when we were forgiven, our sins were cast into the deepest sea, and in order for the devil to go deep enough to retrieve them and mock us again with them, he would have to swim so deep that he would drown before he could make it back.
God settled His justice for the believers at Calvary when Jesus paid it all; God wrote a receipt and signed it with the blood of His only son, to have many sons thereafter. God makes no mistakes, He is sovereign, we owe much to His love; we owe much to His forgiving grace, yet we can call for help at any time; we owe very much to His power, we’ve been raised from death unto life and kept forever by His redeeming love. We owe ourselves and all we have, to Him that gave the best He had for us.
“Washed”
Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe,
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed me white as snow.
