Jonah's Hell ~ H. Tom Milam

Jonah 2:1 Then Jonah prayed unto the
LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
Jonah 2:10 And the LORD spake
unto the fish, and it vomited
out Jonah upon the dry land.
“Jonah’s Hell”
 A poem published in H. Tom Milam's book, Beside Still Waters.
H. Tom Milam 2008

He was on the inside of a slick, slimy, smelly whale;
Rumbling and tumbling, in the darkness of hell!

Ole’ Jonah declared,
I’m unworthy to be;

So he was vomited up,
On the banks of the sea.

Goodbye, my pride,
You selfish old sin;

Welcome humility,
And meekness within.

Notice God’s grace,
And mercy to him;

Brought his child to the shore-line,
And didn’t even make him swim!
