Matthew 9:35-36 ~ 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. KJV
O that we would have just a small portion of the compassion of Christ! "But when he saw . . ." He looked at the lost and wandering, He saw. Jesus was moved with great compassion. “The word which is used for moved with compassion (splagchnistheis) is the strongest word for pity in the Greek language…it describes the compassion which moves a man to the deepest depths of his being.” Jesus' heart was near broken for the condition of these people, the lost sheep. He was the One that would die for them in the very near future and His compassion for their condition was greater than can be imagined! When He was moved, He reacted.
What do we do when we see that sheep stranded, lost, wavering in their lives toward destruction and hell? Do we wait till they darken the door of the church to witness to them of the Saviour or do we share with them the glorious truth of the Gospel that God sent His Son to die for us and they CAN GO TO HEAVEN? God forbid! John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
May God help us to see someone today that we may share the Gospel, have them believe, receive Christ and change their eternal direction toward heaven!
HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM? Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen. With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?
