December 28, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue
. . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

1 Thessalonians 5:1 -5 ~ 1) But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4) But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5) Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. KJV

Are you ready for that day? That Day when the LORD tells Jesus to go get His bride, His church; those that have called on Him to save them. That is me! Is it you? Paul tells us that we know not the day that Christ will return. . .but we know from Scripture throughout the Bible that when He comes it will be sudden, sure, and finished.

Will you be in that crowd that will raise up in the air to be with Him forever and eternity? There are only two choices, and we get to make that choice. We can choose darkness full of sinfulness, evil and harm - destruction beyond our comprehension. Or we can choose Light, the Son of God, the goodness of all that ever is, was, or will be. We can choose between Heaven or Hell. Light or Dark. Our choice.

May I implore you today - if you are not saved and know without a shadow of a doubt that you are going to heaven, would you please, in the name of God, get saved TODAY!

Romans 10:12-13 ~ 12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

"HE IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!"

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

The Light of the World is Jesus

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in.
The Light of the world is Jesus!

Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!

If you don't know Him, come to Him today!

December 27, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

We always wanted a place with a nice front porch!
Who knows, it may be coming soon!
 And so, I continue. . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Philippians 2:14-15 ~ 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; KJV

What happens to us when we start moaning and groaning about our "current situation"?  For me I can say I begin to moan and groan about a lot of other things as well.  It's almost like once the "snowball" starts rolling we can see all kinds of things to complain about. Our jobs, our friends, our circumstances, our environment, our government, our leaders, world leaders, in excusable cruelty, death, an out of sorts husband or wife, a friend that has betrayed you . . . you name it, we can complain about it. But what Paul is trying to tell us here is - these "things" are in the Christians' life by GOD's design and plan. WHAT? God wants us to live in a world full of corruption and evil; He wants me to have cancer, broken home, death of a loved one, meanness to me and my family, this unexpected and unexplained move Tom and I are going through! It's terrible for both of us at 79 and 72 with a busted-up shoulder and a wounded hip who wants to move; believe me it isn't us; 30 days get out. . .no homes to rent or buy for ANY reasonable amount! God wanted this for US? We are His missionaries; the Preacher and his wife, what in the world!

That's right; what in the world! We always and repeatedly say, when God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Paul is reminding us that how we handle these situations in our Christian lives is so very important. We are to maintain our faith in God as His "shining lights." We could complain, moan, groan, and carry on. Or we can trust God and His guiding hand. His love for us and care for us is so much more than the "world" can do for us. And that is the main point of today's ramblings.  I don't know your situation, but I do know that when we give it all completely to God, He will give peace, comfort, and direction. He will help us to keep our "shining light" for Jesus. Our testimony is so important as Christians. Tom said just yesterday, he would rather be basically sleeping on the streets than to harm his testimony for God. We have trusted him all our years as Christians, and this is NOT the first BIG bump in the road we have faced, and He always brings us through. We know a good woman who always says, "I am God's most favoured!"  No, she isn't. We continually disagree with that statement. It is like a mother saying she loves one child over another. God is God! He loves us all equally - and we can trust Him to continue loving us, providing for us, guiding us, protecting us, and continually caring for us.

What big hurdle are you facing Christian? Will the world see Christ in you as you travel this path God has chosen for you? Or will they see a complainer, groaner, murmurer, disputer? No, this is not what we wanted to do at Christmas. It is the time of year we devote all of our energy to honor our Lord's birth, celebrate His arrival so many years ago, and His soon coming again!  We still did that, and in between we packed. And God has sent help along the way! We will move our things to storage for a while and live in a couple of places where people have opened their doors. It will be like traveling to a meeting with a few bags for a hotel. That is God's design. We told you about Sister Cora Kern (please continue to pray for her) basically at 90, going home from a nursing home with a healing broken hip, and we will be there to help her for as long as the Lord sees it necessary. A home for us will open up, but it will be a home with no strings attached! We praise the Lord for His goodness over these years and our lives, and we look forward to a continued journey for Him. How about YOU?

December 26, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.
  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Ephesians 5:8-11 ~ 11 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. KJV

No Christians are not being mean, full of righteousness for their sake when they don't want to be around behavior which is forbidden by God as a Christian. We are just obeying God as told in these verses. It is not that we do not love people that have certain vices in their lives, but God has told us clearly ". . .have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. . ." and on top of that we are to ". . .reprove them." We will attend the special occasion, and we will not brow beat our loved ones with the Gospel, we don't need to. You have heard, you have seen, and you know that you are unsaved and are living in the darkness mentioned above. You may not think it wrong to curse every other word that comes out of your mouth, but it offends me. You may think it now wrong to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, but I don't want to be around you when you do. And maybe you think it's okay to be cruel and hurt others just because you can, and you like bullying people. But I don't.

Listen, it isn't because I don't love you, it is because I love the Lord more and that I am commanded to ". . .reprove them." And it isn't that I think I am better than you or that I don't know about those things. Sadly, I used to live there. BUT one day, God got a hold of my soul and made me see that as a Christian, I had to make changes in my life. I am so thankful He never gave up on me, and He will never give up on you, until that day when He sends His son to; "go get your bride" and all of Heaven will open in glory to receive all saved, born again, Christians. Then that day will be too late to hear your pleas - "I'm sorry, don't leave me, come back, I'll serve you Jesus, Help me!" No, it will be too late. Every knee shall bow and confess He is Lord, but if you are not ready for that day, it will be too late.

Make today the day that you give your soul to the Lord in complete obedience. As my husband always says, "It is one thing to be saved, it is an entirely different thing to follow after Jesus!" Today is my birthday, I am now 72 years old. . .how about a special gift for me in honor of our Lord. Let me know you got saved, decided to serve the Lord completely, and have committed yourself, children, spouse to God for the same purpose.  We love you all!

December 25, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.
  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Romans 13:11-12 ~ 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. KJV

When you read Romans 13 - it is all about what a Christians obligations are to government. In more detail, because God is in control of ALL, even rulers are put in place for HIS END PURPOSE. They may think they are in control, and they try to convince others of this, but we know God is in control.  We are to subject ourselves to governing authorities because they are appointed by God and serve a purpose in His plan. Sometimes they are good rulers, and other times, rotten rulers. Whether they be a Prince, King, Shah, President; no matter, they are where they are because of God, and we are the same. When we go against Gods plan, only devastation will come.  I may not like all that goes on in our world's government, no matter the nation, evil acts the same way.

BUT GOD! We have a Christian duty to stay away from the darkness of the world and let the Light of Jesus shine through our souls and permeate the world around us. It is by His grace, sacrifice and love that we have the power of God to do this. ". . put on the armour of light." That is our duty. Pray for our government leaders and beg God to intervene as He wills. That is our duty, Christian. We carry on the Gospel and the Banner of Love in His name.  He will take care of all the rest!

Now, a little different message for this special day we call Christmas. The day we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ! Let His light shine through you, and if you do not know Him as your personal Saviour, make that happen today. Just a matter of repenting of the sin in your life, turn away from that place you are now and turn to Jesus. He will forever be your advocator at the throne of God. Allow Him to send the Holy Spirit to indwell within you, be your comforter in all situations and give you power to defeat satan and his demons!  God loves you and we love you as well.

Thank you to all who have been a part of our ministries in any way. Our prayer is God will send special blessings to you and yours.  Merry Christmas! And A Happy New Year!

December 24, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.
  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Acts 13:46-47 ~ 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.  KJV

This time in history tells us much. As the disciples and those called to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ begin their ministries, the Jewish people still could not except the fact that Jesus was and IS the "Coming Messiah" and that they are blinded by the fact that he was not born as a King of the Jews in some palace or some grand place.  This man was born in a stable, birthed by a virgin, lived as a man. As Paul recorded, he told the Jews that because they were God's chosen people, the Gospel was to be heard by them first, but many continued to reject Him. They could not believe that this "man" was the salvation of the world, and because it was time for the preachers to reach the Gentiles, they began their outreach as God commanded and they became the "light" for the Gentiles who were eager to hear of this wonderful Saviour.

Don't we as Christians get the same reactions from people, when we talk to them about the Lord many times? Why don't they want to hear the Gospel? We want so desperately to make them understand that Jesus was the Messiah, He came as a man, born of a virgin as Scripture prophesied, and died to save them from Hell. He died on the cross for all mankind, Jews and Greeks, and Gentiles (that's us).  Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

On this Christmas Eve, won't you consider the fact that you are unsaved. You are going to hell if you die without Christ. There is no other option. Why would God send people to hell you might ask?  He doesn't, we do it to ourselves. If you die in your sin, without Christ, you made that choice. Sin cannot enter Heaven, and those who have not taken Jesus as their Saviour have one final destination, Hell.

So, friend, this year coming, 2023, make it the best year ever by giving your life, heart, and soul to the Lord. The time is drawing nearer and nearer to the time when Christ will come to gather the saved up to heaven, and for all those who have put it off, rejected Him, you will never have another opportunity. AND saints, for those who are not serving God, giving, living, attending church, make 2023 your year to shine for the Lord. You will never regret it.

So Merry Christmas to one and All from the Milam's ~ may God be ever present in your life and bless us all with an amazing year coming. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for those who have prayed for us, given to our ministry, and supported us in love and friendship! We are forever grateful!

December 23, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

Acts 9:1-4 ~ 1 And Saul yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?  KJV

Saul full of rage, evil, cruelty, envy and blood thirstiness; was on his way to wreak utter havoc and evil upon other Christians he found as he traveled to Damascus; not upon those that truly needed to be in prison or executed, he was going to call out every follower of Christ and attempt to murder them. Oh, my soul, the evil. But THEN that glorious Light of the World, shone down on him and his life was NEVER the same again.

I am glad that God looked beyond my sins and saw me worthy enough to be saved. As Saul traveled to Damascus he went with one goal in sight, to capture and torture every follower of Christ that came within his reach. He was evil. The devil's tool. BUT that day He called on the LORD - that all changed. The Bible says in Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He loved us when we were sinners, and He still loves us today!

Saul's new name, Paul, would forever identify him with the One who once killed saints and caused such evil damage, but now saved and on his way to heaven! BUT GOD! You might say, God could never forgive me for all that I have done, but He can, and He will. You have control of your eternity and your eternal destination. Heaven or Hell, no other choices. But by bowing your head, humbly asking God to forgive your sin and invite Jesus to come into your heart and save you, insures your home in heaven. You HAVE CONTROL, just do it! Don't wait. If you do, it may be too late!

Thank you to all who are praying for us.  I pray for those who have given of their finances, and that You will continue to supply. We know You are our Great Provider, and we can't thank you enough. We thank You Lord for Your wonderful mercy in Tom's eyes and ask that You heal him completely or at least allow the medication to work. Lord I also bring my eyes before you and I praise you Father that the report was good and there is NO MACULAR developing! Dr. Gallogly was confident when he gave us the good news.

We ask Lord, that You would heal our dear friends and family. Bless our daughters, Nina, Jennifer, and Lita their husbands, children, grandchildren; especially with Lita's health we ask for Your healing touch in every area of her life.  And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 12:45-46 ~ 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.  KJV

Jesus made a way that we can avoid all darkness! The Light of the World wants us to believe in Him and Him alone for our salvation and way into the Light. Darkness can be scary. For those of us with poor vision anyway, it can almost immobilize us. Afraid to move for fear of falling. When we enter any space that is dim or dark, the first thing my husband will move to is the light switch. He cannot see without this light! He has macular degeneration and is legally blind in his right eye and his eyesight in this left eye is poor.  So yes, light is very important to him.

But this isn't the light Jesus is speaking of in our verses. He was sent by God, to become the Light that would draw all men. In that darkness that surrounds us - He is definitely the Light at the end of the tunnel. He is the one that we should look to defeat the darkness's of our lives. He loves us, He died for us, He rose for us, went to heaven for us to prepare our homes so that one day we will live with Him for eternity-to-eternity never-ending eternity! As we face so many dangers today in our day to day lives, we can have that know so confidence that when we accepted Jesus as our Saviour, He became our "Guiding Light." Do you know Him as personal Saviour. If not, I beg you today to be saved. How? I'll tell You!

Yes, YOU can KNOW for sure that YOU are going to HEAVEN!

1. REALIZE THAT YOU ARE A SINNER

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” - Romans 3:23

2. REALIZE THERE IS A PRICE ON SIN

“For the wages of sin is DEATH…” - Romans 6:23a

3. REALIZE JESUS PAID THE PRICE FOR YOU

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US.”- Romans 5:8

4. REALIZE SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT REQUIRING ONLY

 A HEART DECISION

“...the gift of God is eternal life though Jesus Christ our Lord.”  - Romans 6:23b

5. REALIZE YOU MUST NOW CALL UPON JESUS TO SAVE YOU

“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL be saved.”  Romans 10:10 & 13

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE SAVED RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN PRAY SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. Please forgive me of my sins  and save me today. In Jesus’ name—Amen

December 21, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

SUNSET - THE "LIGHT" GOING DOWN
  And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 12:35-36 ~ 35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. KJV

The Light of the World, Jesus is speaking the last words of His "public" ministry, appealing to those who do not Believe on Him, that time is running out for them. He only came to minister for a few years, and His life before His Baptism and public ministry is not recorded for us. But these LAST three and a half years that He did minister, were public. His goal to teach, reach, heal, draw all men to Him, The Light and Hope for the world.  In two short days He would be crucified, and after these words, as you can see in the latter part of verse 36, Jesus ". . .departed, and did hide himself from them." He would soon be leaving. He knew His time was short, and the last two days of His life He spoke and reminded them that He would soon leave them.  He would be tortured, ridiculed, crucified. He did not want the disciples to think He was leaving them with just a memory of Him, but He had to go so that the comforter would come.

John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 - But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

We are truly blessed among men. Not only did the Father send His Son to die for us, but He also sent the Holy Spirit to teach us, guide us, remind us, of all the things we would need to know to be saved, live a Christian life, and serve Him until His return. And folks He is coming back. Maybe you are 80-90 years old, and you have heard that all your life, and He hasn't come yet, but it doesn't mean it isn't so or that He won't come soon.  The Bible teaches us that when the "time" comes, He will step out on that cloud and call HIS children to glory. I'm ready, so ready. Are you? Are you confident that when that day arrives, you will go to heaven. This world has gone way too far and just as in Noah's days, they have been warned for years and years and years. Preached from the pulpits all around the world, on the streets, hamlets, mountains, Jesus is LORD come to Him the Saviour of the World, and yet so many have rejected Him.

Christians, what are you doing for the Lord. Are you prepared to stand before Him and lay your crowns at His feet? Revelation 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. His warning in these last days on earth, remind us that we are looking for the day when the trump shall sound and all that we know will be behind us.

So, I ask again, are you ready? Are your children, grandchildren, family saved and know they are going to heaven? Who are you going to leave behind because you didn't tell them about our Saviour? Our lives are open books. People either see Christ in us, or they don't - and if they don't see Him, who's fault is it?  May God have mercy on us and the souls that we reach for Him.

A special request, and if you have read this far, please tell me in a message, text, comment that you will pray for our daughter Lita. She needs a special touch from heaven today! Thank you and have a blessed and wonderful day.

Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!

If you don't know Him, come to Him today!

December 20, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 9:4-5 ~ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. KJV

Jesus came down to earth with a "purpose" on His mind. He already knew the end of His time would be fraught with such unconceivable pain ~ but He came any way.  He had a job to do, one He volunteered for at the beginning of creation; one that would ensure the salvation of all men who would call upon Him as their personal Saviour. When He said, ". . .work the works. . .", they were the works of God. He would complete that task before Him as assigned by the LORD God. Only He could do this, no one else. They were to be done by Christ: the work of redemption for all men, fulfilling the law, and satisfying justice. And besides this, there was the preaching of the Gospel, doing miracles, among these was the giving sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, as spoke of in the Old Testament in Isaiah, chapter 35 and verse 5 "Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped."

Time does not stand still. Jesus knew He had to accomplish all that was assigned to Him in a time period set by God. Soon it would be dark, and no time left. Folks, there will come a time when our work "day" will be over, and the night hours will prevail. While we are above ground, we are to be the workers of Christ and His commission has been passed on to us. God created us for His pleasure and glory, and when things changed in the garden, He still wanted us. Sin passed to all men when Adam and Eve fell, and we have a choice to continue in our own world of sin or turn to Jesus and assure our home in heaven. Jesus said it Himself, ". . .I am the light of the world." Nothing can change that. The devil knew He could not hold Him in Hell, but he had to try. He was still deceiving men and women right along, and he still is. Jesus came to die for you and me; have you given yourself to Him?

The end times are very near. Our scholars and preachers warn us daily of the great day and its soon coming. Signs are everywhere worldwide.  When Jesus steps out on a cloud and calls, "Come up hither my bride, it is your wedding day!" That day when every head shall bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That day when the dead in Christ shall rise, and we who are alive will join them in the air, believe me that day is coming.

Will you be in that throng? Will you be able to bow your head in utter devotion, or in great fear knowing the judgment has come.  Folks Heaven is real!  Hell is real! Judgment is coming!  - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Are you ready? It is our prayer that our entire ministry be one of seeking others to salvation! You still have time if you are breathing. But that moment when your last breath is drawn, it will be to late to make sure of your salvation!

December 19, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. KJV

Sometimes I cannot understand the world and why they cannot see their own sin, the struggles they go through with no “Light” at the end of their tunnel.  But then I think of where I was before I got saved. I didn't know I was lost before someone shared in the Word of God my sinful condition. When I did take Him as my Saviour, I knew I was on my way to Heaven. But it seems harder to reach people today, and I wonder why? The Bible says in John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. Until the world accepts Jesus Christ as their Saviour, they will only see the darkness.  In our darkest times, Jesus’ light shines and if we would just turn away from the darkness our lives would change 180 degrees! All we need to do is look to Christ in and by whom all things are illuminated.

54 years ago, I did that, and I found that in Christ all my questions are answered: How did we get here; what’s wrong with the world; what is our next step, can’t we fix any of this, what does my life here mean; how should we live; why aren't Christians serving their Saviour? All of these answers and many more are in the Bible, the Word of God, where Jesus tells us to look to Him for, He is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD, AND IN HIM we can find all of the answers to these questions and many more. When we pray and seek His face, He opens more and more of the Scriptures to our understanding and more and more of our questions are answered.

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the Word by whom the whole world was made; John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. He is the way, the truth, and the life. To refuse to follow Him is to continue to walk in darkness, is self-destructive, leaving us searching for answers, even if the questions are unexpressed. To follow Him is to see what is ahead, immediately, and eternally into the future. Christ shows us that the world fell with Adam and Eve, and that God had a plan before creation, to save it. He showed me my need for Him, and my need for salvation. The Scriptures and the preaching of the men of God showed me that He died on the cross to redeem us and forgive us, reconciling us to the Father. Christ showed me His nature and holiness, love, grace, and mercy of God.  God is a Holy God, and his wrath for sin combined with the mercy of forgiveness, and justice of God with the forgiveness of God was made possible through and by the Lord Jesus Christ and His Death on the cross for ALL men.

His Light shows me how to walk in Him until His return. He is my loving God, and we are all to live in Him and His Light with all our heart, soul, and strength. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves, even loving our enemies. The Light shows me how to die to myself, that I might live a true life, abundantly in Him forever and ever. And the best part, it wasn’t just for me; you too can have this abundant life in Christ, just for the asking. It is a free gift given by God for all men.

December 18, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Light of the World"

 And so, I continue. . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.  Psalms 26:7 KJV

John 3:19-21 ~  19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. KJV

“If we were asked to read (the Bible) to a dying man who did not know the gospel, we should probably select this chapter as the most suitable one for such an occasion; and what is good for dying men is good for us all, for that is what we are; and how soon we may be actually at the gates of death, none of us can tell.” (Spurgeon)

No one can tell the time that Jesus will return to get His children. No one knows the time of their death, but one thing we can know, whether we are going to Heaven or hell! If you know the time that you accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour, you have secured your journey to Heaven. If you cannot recall a moment in time when you called on the Saviour to save you from your sins, you most likely are headed on a journey to hell.

The entire Gospel "hinges on the cross", the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ! In Him alone do we find salvation from our sins and the deserved living hell. But God made a way through His Son, Jesus.  "Ephesians 2:4-6 ~ 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Darkness verses Light ~ people of God we have a choice. It was given to us at the beginning of creation. Follow after the Light of the World, or the evil of darkness and satan. Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. You may "call" yourself a "good person" ~ I have mentioned this in other posts, it is not what we do to get to Heaven! It is what Jesus Christ already did.  We cannot do anything in and of ourselves to insure our home in Heaven. It is "good" that you do "good" but having Jesus as your Saviour is the only way to heaven.  Make sure of that today.

Our verses clearly talk about the distinction between good and evil.  Once we are saved, we should forever be striving to live for Jesus and follow after Him. I didn't for a good while after I was saved 54 years ago! But I praise the Lord daily for that moment in my life when I knew not only that I was saved, but that I wanted to FOLLOW AFTER Christ! How about you?
