That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7 KJV
Proverbs 4:18-19 ~ 18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. KJV
When God created lights He did a great and mighty thing for all of the earth. . . .Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Genesis 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
It wasn't by accident that He divided the day from the night. The psalmist so eloquently talks of that ". . .shining light. . ." and how it shines to perfection (completion). As he writes metaphorically, we can apply these verses to our own lives. As "The Light of the World", Jesus is the brightest shining light of salvation given to man. He died on the cross and descended into the deepest hell, for you and me. Before His death He taught for 3 years as told in the Word of God; sharing the Light of God and Heaven. The Bible was recorded from the front cover to the back cover on how all people can have this salvation He provided through the shedding of His precious blood. He taught how to grow as Christians, serve God as we should, love better and longer than ever. . . but to do that we must look to the Light of the world. Look to Him who not only created the light but became the light through His sacrifice on the cross.
"When Jesus said, ". . . it is finished: and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost." During the last three hours of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, an eerie darkness struck the land. That is when no evil could be seen no good could be seen; no light could be seen, as Jesus descended into hell to claim His own. The devil knew he could not hold Him. He was God in the flesh, and Light would return. Jesus made certain of that when he cried, "It is finished." Have you ever thought of the evil that is done in the world and the percentage of evil done in the daylight in comparison to those crimes done in the dark hours? The psalmist makes a clear comparison in these verses. He compared the righteous on a path of ". . .shining light. . ." vs. the ". . .the wicked is as darkness. . ." they stumble in the night." The Bible is full of metaphors, so it isn't unusual to read Scripture like this one here. Jesus made a way that we can be saved from the dark evil of the world.
Some say, "The darkness lives within me, and I cannot rid myself of it." Are you depressed, does everything seem dark and sad? I cannot say I have suffered greatly with depression, but some of the people I love most in the world have. But when you realize this darkness is not of God, you will see that the Light of the World lives within every Christain, and we do not have to succumb to the dark of wickedness. Trust in the Lord to bring you healing in your mind and soul, and He will.
Verse 18 says, ". . .as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." That means that our light will shine greater and greater as we draw closer to the Lord. I want that don't you. We are winners, you know, so why shouldn't we live a victorious life in the Lord. We can even in adversity. We know we are not the only ones facing a future of uncertainty when it comes to where God is moving us, but we do know that the Light of the World is in control, and where He leads us, we will follow ". . .unto the perfect day . . ."
Please continue to pray God will show us soon what He would have us do regarding our mission home in Florida! We are blessed beyond blessed!
The Light of the World is Jesus
The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in.
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me.
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!
If you don't know Him, come to Him today!
