February 26 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Who’s Salvation Is It?”

Acts 4:12

We hear many people say, “my salvation”, but it is God’s Salvation, He supplies it, it is the work of His hand for our benefit. “Who can forgive sin, but God only” (Mark 2:7). He delivers us from death unto life. He brings us to life, and then it is He that keeps and maintains our soul. If I pray it is God that moves me to pray, because my heart has changed, and I have new concerns now. The graces of God are my undeserved gifts, they are not of me. If my life is to be anything, it is His life in me that moves me to think and act. I can do nothing to preserve myself. I’m kept by the power of God. If I do wrong and sin, it is no one but me that has allowed it. I blame no person or circumstance for my unrighteousness. If I live a right, devoted, and committed life, it is Him that dwells in me that does it. If I live a consecrated, dedicated life before men, it is God that does it. How am I sanctified? It is Christ that cleans me up, day by day; His holy Spirit set me apart! I no longer hunger and thirst for worldly things, His chastening sanctification has put me in my place. If I have knowledge, my council came from Him; I now feed on His word, it is my sustainer, and my thirst is quenched by the waters of His mouth. A fresh supply of strength comes from Gods might; I have no power or strength, but that which comes from the Hills of God’s grace, namely Jesus.  He is my stay, my abiding power, without Him I can do nothing and be nothing. I need Jesus more than anything.

“Closet Time”

Salvation is of the Lord, our brother Jonah said,

Except we abide in God, we are surely dead.

Jonah learned about it, while covered in the deep,

Let me learn it Lord, as closet-time I keep.

Bible Reading Schedule: Numbers 30-31

Weekly Memory Verses: Romans 1:14-17

Romans 1:14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

February 25, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

MORE THAN MILLIONAIRES!
And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Ephesians 4:1-3 ~ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  KJV

Paul spent the first three chapters of Ephesians spelling out in glorious detail all that God did for us, freely by His grace. Now he brings a call to live rightly. Although when we got saved and became the "Sons of God" and joint heirs with the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God through Paul's writings reminds us that we are to "...walk worthy..." of our call. There are instructions here that remind us that we are to walk lowly with meekness, not having characters of high mindedness or loftiness, just because we are "more than millionaires", as my husband often says. God surely has made it plain that He wants us as Christians to unify and reach all that can be reached with the Gospel.

We are not to walk worthy so that God will love us, but because He does love us. We are to be motivated out of gratitude, not out of a desire to earn merit. O That the Lord God would be seen clearly in us and draw others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. No matter what we think of ourselves, when we lose our Christian testimony, we endanger many souls who look after us and will make a decision to follow after Christ as the LORD God would have! If ONE is saved by our walk, Glory hallelujah!

Another Christian trait that we should embrace is ". . .longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; . . ." What does Paul mean? I like to use the Webster's 1828 Dictionary as more modern dictionaries don't address the Biblical definitions as the Websters 1828 does. - adjective enduring injury, trouble, or provocation long and patiently. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary Longsuffering, adjective Bearing injuries or provocation for a long time; patient; not easily provoked. (http://webstersdictionary1828.com/)

We are going to face challenges with others as Christians when we share the Gospel. Many are out knocking on doors today in an effort to reach one more soul for Christ, and some will accept Him, and some will attack the soul winners. Don't go away from them mad or affronted, what happens to us is a moot point, when we have Jesus on our minds. He will take care of those who attack us. FORBEAR the attacks of the world with Jesus on your mind.

We are to "forbear" - KJV Dictionary Definition: FORBEAR, v.i. pret. forbore; pp. forborne. 1. To stop; to cease; to hold from proceeding; as, forbear to repeat these reproachful words. 2. To pause; to delay; as, forbear a while. 3. To abstain; to omit; to hold oneself from motion or entering on an affair. Don't jump back in the attacker's face and return evil for evil.... let God give you the peace and comfort you need and PRAY for others to see the light! The devil has had a hold on all of us for way to long, and his time is coming up for his forever punishment! Remember Heaven is our gain!

HE LOVES US!

PLEASE PRAY WITH US THAT GOD WILL GIVE US A HOME OF OUR OWN SOON. THANK YOU!

In the name of Jesus, may we be HIS emissaries and used by Him to help others.

HE CARES! Do You Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

 “A Storm Is Coming!”

Matthew 3:7

I spent a sixteen-month tour in Korea when I was in the Army in 1961- 1962. I remember anticipating the literal weeks of rain that the Monsoons brought in, day and night. I had never seen so much mud and water for the better part of three months. And then the weather would go from one extreme to the other. The winter came and I had never experienced such cold, and then when spring and summer came, heat exhaustion and heat stroke brought down many of us, it is not a pleasant experience to go through.

On the way back from my tour of duty, we stopped in Japan for a 24 hour period, it was the month of August, typhoon season, and sure enough, leaving out of the Bay of Japan from Yokohama, we headed straight for a curtain of blackness about a day out in the sea; I had never seen such a hard rain and wind. The waves began to get bigger and stronger, the ship began to make weird noises, it would actually go completely under water, it would roll, and pitch and I’ll never forget praying, though I was lost, God help me get through this and I’ll do anything you want. But when things smoothed out, I forgot all about the promises to be a better person and so on. Friend, if you are lost or your life is not what it should be for Christ, you are headed for a storm. Repent quickly, for God’s wrath is riding behind His mercy, the tempest will rage, the flood of fire is coming upon the lost that have rejected Him; Look about you, the wind is howling, the rain is just over the horizon, flood gates will soon break forth with damning destruction. O sinner, come in before the storm, because after it begins, no mercy is extended.

“Where”

Where, O sinner, will you hide your head?

Where on earth will you flee?

The saints will fly, the storm will rage,

And the sinner will find no mercy.

Weekly Memory Verses: II Timothy 2:11-15

2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

February 24, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Romans 9:14-16 ~ What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. KJV

Do you know what mercy is. Mercy is not getting what we do deserve. Folks, I deserve Hell, but I won't go there. The compassion of the LORD God is so great, that He saw us in our sin and sent a Saviour to bring us out. Jesus Christ the redeemer of all men.  How much more compassion can one have than to give their only SON in death and the shedding of righteous blood for our miserable sinful souls. Now that is TRUE compassion.

It is true, I do deserve to go to Hell, but I will not, cannot, never will go there! I am a child of God, and I am safe in the arms of Jesus. I heard a preacher of the Gospel recently that shared his life's story, and he told us there was a time in their life that a great depression fell upon them. It was so great they began to doubt their own salvation. The devil will do all he can to make us miserable, and honestly, I cannot think of a more miserable place to be as in a pit of depression. Thinking that all, including God, had deserted me. This preacher felt like they wanted to die, and their heart was suffering from absolute abandonment, or so they thought.

No matter where you are in your life, if you have turned your back on God, the best thing you can do is turn back to Him, fall on your knees and beg for forgiveness.  I can tell you this, He won't ignore you, stall you, or let you wonder if He heard you. He is God, He made a way, and He loves us so much! He will forgive you if you repent of the sin and ask for forgiveness with a broken heart. He is compassionate to a fault some would say. Some would also say, "Why would any God forgive me for the things I have done in my life?" Because He loves you and has mercy and compassion on you, He will forgive. Where are you Christian? Examine yourself, and make sure there is nothing between you and the Lord. Lost person who may have no clue what I just said, "You need to be saved before it is eternally too late! God already knows, so just bow, ask Him to save you! He Will!

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.

February 24 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“Under The Spout Where The Glory Comes Out”

Ezekiel 34:26

God’s grace comes in down pours, shower after shower, not a few drops here and there. Like His blood that was shed, it wasn’t spilled, it was shed, all of it poured out for all mankind, not just a few drops on this one and that one; not perchance that a small particle or droplet splatter on me, but all of  it for me, as if I was the only one to be saved, it takes all of it, the shower of it.

God blesses the earth with rain, it doesn’t just happen incidentally, “is it not I” saith the Lord! So, Grace is the gift of God, not of man, and we need Grace. We need divine grace as much as the ground needs rain.  I need grace and mercy, as much as I need to breathe air. We toil and labor to find peace and satisfaction, we exhaust every avenue to find soul happiness, and then the instant we put aside self, God will shower you with it. God said, I’ll send the showers down according to “seasons:. What is your season, your need? Are you living in drought? Has anxiety and depression overtaken you? It is time then for showers to come, “As thy day, so shall thy strength be.” Showers of blessings, means many different kinds, whatever the need is. If the need is converting grace, He’ll give it; Comforting grace, ask and it is there; Are you parched and dry? He’ll send you a shower to revive you and cleanse you, look up and receive His showers of blessings.

“Showers of Grace”

Grace is not a hidden thing,

God willingly reveals.

To the deepest valleys, the highest mountains,

and to the rolling hills.

Grace comes in showers, as to the need,

and according to His gracious will.

                    ~Tom Milam

“I need grace and mercy as much as I need to breathe air.”

Bible Reading Schedule: Numbers 23-25

With love and prayers,
May we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

February 23, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam February Devotions: "Compassion"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

Luke 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. KJV

This father's love for his son is great! He has prayed, fasted, and begged God to save his child from his own wayward days. It is a sad commentary - that his son waited until he was in the depths of despair and from the "pig's pin" called for help from God. Many of our children and grandchildren are in a terrible state of life. They have given themselves over to self, and I promise you we are all nothing but dirty, rotten, sinners and deserve all that hell offers! BUT GOD!  He can save the lowest of the low, as well as the high-minded and wealthy. But there is ONE thing we must do; repent of our sin and turn to God for all that He has for us. The prodigal knew in his heart he had wasted his inheritance and felt he had no right to return to his father. But that father's love was greater for his child than any sin he committed. As our Heavenly Father's love for us is greater than any love known to man.

As he fell on his son's neck in "compassion" he was so grateful that God answered his prayers! His son was home. Now his family is restored. Why did the son wait so long? Why did he linger in the depths of sin and depravity? Without the power of God in our lives, and the great gift of salvation, we cannot overcome the "wages of sin" many times. That was where he was. The devil made him to believe that that pigpen was all he deserved! Listen to me this morning will you please!?? God is not willing that any should die in sin and go to hell! 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

". . .but that all should come to repentance." When you realize there is no place to go, that is when you call out to God. He will save you, help you, restore you to your rightful place as a Child of God. Don't let your pride be so strong that you cannot repent and turn back to God Christian, or for the sinner that you cannot surrender your sick sinful life to Him that loves you so much. Even in the son's sinful state, he reached out to God, and God brought him out of that terrible place. Our hearts are burdened for the families that have been destroyed because of one member's horrible sinful state. Wives, Husbands, children from babies on up to adults; lives that are broken and hurt. BUT GOD! can heal them all if they would but turn to Him.

“Some of you whom I now address have been thinking, and thinking, and thinking, till I fear that you will think yourselves into perdition. May you, by divine grace, be turned from thinking to believing, or else your thoughts will become the undying worm of your torment.” (Spurgeon)

How about you Christian? Has sin grabbed ahold of you, and you are not in rightful place with God? Are you "thinking, and thinking," as Spurgeon said? BELIEVE that He can, and He will. And sinner, have you realized yet that there is a God in heaven, and He has the power to pull you from the devils hold on your life through sin? Our God is truly a loving and compassionate Father! He will forgive, and He will restore!

HE LOVES US!

PLEASE PRAY WITH US THAT HE WILL GIVE US A HOME OF OUR OWN SOON.

Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
