 “The God of Impossible Things”
Joshua 3:17

We probably will face many “Jordans” in our lives, those seemingly impossible things. Simply because Jesus faced up against all odds and utter impossibilities. But as long as we have our eyes on Jesus, in trusting and believing, we have power to conquer and overcome any hostile power that works against us. Everything that the devil has, has been thrown at Jesus already, and he didn’t win. (Satan is a loser by the way). He doesn’t own anything, for two reasons; God is the ruler of the universe and Satan got here too late; So, he doesn’t really own anything.

Christ overcame everything that we will ever face, at the cross. We need to stay close to Jesus, be filled with the Spirit daily, and seek to know God. We have access to the throne of grace. So that we can come boldly before God and say, “here I am again Lord, with another impossible situation; but I believe that you’re God enough to get me through this.” Then your stormy trial will cease, and a gentle warm breeze will carry you safely to the other side. Get hold of God and trust His power. He will never fail.

“Step Right Through”

This thing that I face today;

O God, what must I do?

Trust, He says, take a step,

A light will shine right through.

I am there, though Jordan swells,

To make the crossing with you.

Step through the door, in faith my child;

And you will know what I say is true.

Weekly Memory Verses:  2 Peter 3:9-12

9 ¶The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 ¶Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

April 22, 2023 ~ LKMilam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:9-10 ~ 10 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. KJV

Jesus is still teaching and contrasting the Good Shepherd in comparison to the false shepherds of Israel. But the lesson is there for us as Christians today. The Word of God is "timeless" and every word, dot, or tittle was written, recorded, and conserved for Christians of all ages. Jesus knows that we would be assaulted by false teachers today. If you are or have any relationship close to God and follow the WORD of God explicitly. He will give you discernment and understanding and particularly wisdom in the need to weed out the false prophets.

As the thief, these people don't show their true inner selves. If they did, there would not be so many of God's people fooled by them. It is their goal to gain power, wealth, position for the soul purpose of uplifting themselves NOT the Lord God. They are often categorized as preachers who teach “prosperity gospel.” They supply the audience with a steady stream of feel-good vibes and promises of good things to those who please God, and very little of the whole counsel of God, preached from the Word of God. BEWARE. Trust your relationship with the Heavenly Father and His leading and guiding. Make sure you and your family are worshipping the LORD God and not some man and his position.

Your family depends on this Christian! May the Lord give us wisdom, discernment, and long days under HIS guidance through His God Called shepherd.

HE CARES! Lost person, Do You Want to Know HIM?  Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.  With love and prayers, may we be your faithful Philippians 2:16 Missionaries?

And so, I continue. . .
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:4-5 ~ 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.  KJV

How many of us have taught our children to never go with strangers. That are not of us, most times they mean harm, and every time it causes great danger and distress for the child and the parents. And parents, if you have trained them right and they are good and obedient children, they will not go with that stranger, but will call out DANGER, STRANGER! Right?

This is what Jesus is telling us as Christians. There are many out there who are wearing (sheeps clothing) Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Throughout Scripture we are warned of these deceivers. They are nothing but from the devil himself, put in places of position over God's people to cause confusion, havoc, danger, and harm in every way. They have deceived our children because we did not continue our teaching and training of these dangers as the child got older. This generation we live in is one of the most Godless generations in history and parents will be holding much of the blame when they stand before God.

It is not okay for young people to be so rebellious and out of control! This is from the devil penetrating the home, the church, and all that they are exposed to. Sadly, these young people may have been saved at an earlier age, but they were blinded because of sin and separation from God as they rebelled against parents. BUT God is in control.  Yes, He is. But He also gave EVERY ONE of us a will of our own and when He desires our love, it is to come to Him by our choice. I have spoken on this before. When "love" is given out of OBLIGATION, it literally means we have lost the true love once had. No one would want that, especially our heavenly Father.

Protect your families. Guard them. Keep them from the dangers of deceivers. Ground them in the Word of God, so that THEY choose God and follow after Jesus of their own free will. They will forever be blessed, and so will you! I pray daily that my children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren have a true desire to follow after Jesus. Not because we tell them it is the right thing to do, but because it IS THE RIGHT THING to do, and they recognize their need, and their families need for all things spiritually gained from God.

Jesus is our true Shepherd. Follow Him. Serve Him. Love HIM! These will be the best decisions you could ever make for yourself personally and your precious loved ones.

“The Door of Faith”
Joshua 6:20

We are faced with many walls of temptation, difficulties, tribulations and sore infirmities; And they look too hard to go through, too high to get over, too wide to go around and rooted too deep to go under; But we have access to a door. We already stand defeated trying to butt through the wall under our own power; The door of faith stands wide open, beckoning us to step through, and waiting on the other side, is Jesus to guide us to the victory. Jesus has saved us with eternal salvation, and is saving us through our trials, and will save us in future tribulations; And save us out of the storms of life. When doubts, fears, temptations, and hard times overshadow us, faith is the escape route; Christ has overcome for us, and we can shout victory going through and victory coming out the other side. When it seems there is no hope for us, remember He is our hope and our conqueror. Remember where you could have been, had it not been for Jesus; Remember the promise, “I’ll not leave you, nor forsake you.” And remember that we’re on our way home, the table is set, the Master bids us come and dine, the victory is won.

 “Faith”

There’s a wall before me,

What must I do?

Too high to go over, and I

Sure can’t go through.

But what is that I see dimly lit?

Well, it’s a doorway, I must go through it.

 What’s that written over it?

I barely can see;

The darkness of my trial,

Has almost overtaken me.

FAITH! It says the work is done.

April 20, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:2-3 ~ 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  KJV

The SHEEP know their Shepherd when they hear Him; I have heard this all my Christian life AND it was usually in relationship with me and my Saviour. Jesus is the true Shepherd, but Jesus is not talking about Himself here. The shepherd that comes to the sheep through the "right door" is the surrendered to God shepherd of the flock/congregation. A true shepherd comes through love, a God calling, care, and sacrificial service. God always intended that His people be led, fed, and protected by those who come in the legitimate, intended way. The door is there for a reason. Some will always climb over the barriers, but God has the barriers and the door there for a reason.

So those who do not enter by Jesus Christ into the pastoral office, is no other than a thief and a robber in the sheepfold.  "Ambition, avarice, love of ease, a desire to enjoy the conveniences of life, to be distinguished from the crowd, to promote the interests of one’s family, and even the sole design of providing against want-these are all ways by which thieves and robbers enter into the Church." (Clarke) Woe unto those who are not in pastoral position by the call of God Himself. We must be discerning of those who would come for one desire, to better self, not the flock/congregation.

Jesus is the one to follow, He is the door to enter. . . there is no other way!

April 19, 2023 ~ Linda K. Milam April Devotions: "The Good Shepherd"

And so, I continue. . . That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26:7

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.  KJV

Jesus felt led to explain very clearly that not everyone among the sheep is a true shepherd; some are like thieves and robbers. One mark of their being a thief and a robber is how they gain entry among the sheep. The idea is that there is a door, a proper way to gain entry. Not everyone who stands among the sheep comes that way. Some climb up some other way. The religious leaders (also called shepherds in their day) gained their place among God’s people – the sheep spoken of here – through personal and political connections, through formal education, through ambition, manipulation, and corruption. They had one goal, get as much as they could from the people of God through deception.

Sadly, we have men (and some women) who are in positions of leadership leading the "sheep" who blindly follow their every word in total belief.  Jesus did not teach this lesson by accident. We are to be studied up, aware, and cautious of those who want to "lead" us through deception. It is a good thing to pray for God's wisdom and discernment in this area. If we are not careful, we may lose that very personal relationship with the Lord because of our inability to discern those that would lead us for personal gain.

When in doubt, turn to God in prayer and Bible study. He will show us the way if we really want to be taught!  He loves us!

“The Wrong Road of Worry”
Psalm 55:22; Isaiah 26:3; Matthew 6:25-34

It has been determined by doctors, that over sixty percent of hospital patients could cure themselves by not being overtaken by anxiety, which is worry. Worry is a definite killer and carries with it a sure transgression against the God of faith. Jesus repeatedly taught against worry and gave us enough instruction to be able to avoid it. We are bad to take on an unnecessary burden that will drag us down when we should lay our burden upon Him. We act as if He is not big enough to carry our troublesome burden, or that we might worry Him with our load of care; But not so, He is delighted in helping our infirmities. We are disobedient and do not trust His word, when we worry in excess. This is sinful, and will lead us on into fleshlier, and therefore, more sinful results. When we decide that we can handle it ourselves, we are forsaking the Heavenly Fathers guidance and when we reject His counseling, we have resorted to human wisdom and have not learned much about spiritual discernment. A leaky container can hold no refreshment, we need the “Fountain” that never runs dry, to quench our desire to be overanxious and overtaken by the demon of worry. Anxiety makes us believe that Gods loving kindness is far from us and doubts overwhelm us, and coldness is our bedfellow. Our trust goes to sleep, and God is grieved so that He cannot answer our prayers. Our testimony becomes weak, and our example becomes a laughing matter among the lost and even a sadness to our brethren. If we have settled ourselves to seek out our own way, we will have no confidence in God, and we’ll become a wanderer far from Him. Learn to cast each burden on Jesus, because He cares more than we can care for ourselves.

“A Rut”

Worry will take you from a life of boldness,

And bury you in a grave of coldness.
