April 10 ~ Dr. Tom Milam He Leadeth Me Devotional

“He Did It All”

Luke 23:33

If there is to be found any comfort, consolation and contentment, it will be found at Calvary. The hill of Calvary holds the house of heavenly satisfaction; The trip to consolation is built with the timber and nails of the rugged cross; the face and back marred, the pierced hands and feet - the riven side proclaims our heavenly blessing and cause of contentment.

Oh, the tragedy of Calvary; No pen has been fashioned, no ink properly colored, no book ever written or scholar ever explained, the depth of this scene in History. The Bible, (Gods Word) declares it.-- God said it, it is true! But it so overwhelms us to find the desired meaning and deepness of it all, that we are found speechless to describe it, and simply we stand amazed and draw once again from the fountain of Grace that satisfies our soul.

This grace of God that pours out full, free and fabulous as the purest crystal. Each drop of blood contained enough grace to satisfy the whole world, but it took it all, for all mankind, sprinkled upon the seat of mercy, for our wretched rejections. It was not on the Mount of Olives that we found our comfort, not high upon Mt. Hermon or Carmel, not even on Mt. Moriah; But deep and alone in Gethsemane, In the Hall of Pilate (called Gabatha) and finally the pinnacle rock where all the earth could behold Him, Golgotha. Gethsemane speaks to me about bitterness and relieves me of its misery; The stripes that He bore at Gabatha, cleanses our cautious cares; And the groanings of Golgotha, gags my fears and glory fills my soul! He did it all for me, that I might live and let Him be seen in me.

“Paid For”

The scene at Calvary, gives to me, Comfort rich and rare,

The depth of love, we could not know, had He not suffered there.

The Fathers deep affection, could never give a reflection,

 of His tender love and care;

 Had not His son, His only Son, paid for our way and fare.

Weekly Memory Verses: Luke 23:33-37 ~ 33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
