November 9, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Grace of Giving"

 And So, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.   Psalms 26:7 KJV

Proverbs 3:27-28 ~ 27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

How can a Christian observe and keep the precepts of Christ, and copy his example; of love and mercy, staying aware regarding covetousness; stay ready for every good work, avoid needless strife, if we hold back good things to those in need? When we can - we must take action. I would be hard pressed not to give away my last loaf of bread to someone who has a great need. Our Lord will re-supply your gift when given in His name and in love and compassion.  Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. This is the benevolence that Christ portrayed in His 3 short years of ministry.

If we could just trust in God, He will meet and exceed our every need or want when we obediently serve others. Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  I bolded those words so that you can see what God will bless you with when we are obedient to His commandments.

We need to not only know the Scriptures, but we need to live them daily. Envying people who have become prosperous oppressors on the "backs" of others, is a far cry from what our Lord and Saviour taught us when it comes to the "grace of giving".  Jesus' disciples (includes us) are to be obedient to God and choose His ways. God's everlasting contempt will be the portion of scorners, while Divine Favour is shown to the obedient and humble believer. The only One I care about Who is watching is our Lord.

If you are obedient to the Lord, and you are willing and able to reach out to others in their need; we have an obligation to meet that need. Not tomorrow or next week, but that day, that moment that you are made aware of the need.  God is favoring us with an opportunity to serve Him in grace giving. It may not be convenient, you might be short on funds yourself, or you might say, "I want to give when others can see me do good - making me more seem religious than others!" NO! We are not to be the "limelight" We are to do it when we have the opportunity, no matter how or who is watching. Be grateful that He gives you an opportunity to serve!

Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.

With love and prayers,
LKMilam
