November 10, 2022 ~ Devotions: "The Grace of Giving"

  And So, I Continue . . . . . .

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.   Psalms 26:7 KJV

Proverbs 3:33-35 Proverbs 3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

The wisest man known, Solomon, shared great wisdom in the book of Proverbs, and in these final verses of Chapter 3, he closes by emphasizing the dual life course available to all men; the way of the wicked (wickedness) or the way of the Saviour, righteousness (salvation through Christ).  Good or Evil, men have faced these choices since the Garden of Eden. And many of their lives have been recorded in our Bibles. This wealth of history in the Bible, is there as examples on how to live our lives; any life living without Christ is the wicked way and we would do well to study the path of the wicked man so that we can avoid the final destination of Hell, but study the path of the righteous man, where we can be blessed, saved, and have a final home in Heaven.

It always amazes me that satan can so easily fool people into believing he is the way the truth and the life, when actually he is a liar, and his way is the way of destruction and a forever death separated from our Holy God in that horrible place called hell. So, there is that destiny for satan, his demons and all those who reject Jesus Christ as the Son of God, Who was given for the salvation of all mankind. That destination is the lake of fire. A place where they will all suffer forever in its flames and agony. Once you have passed from this life without Jesus, there is no hope for you.  Hell is more than the torment of a guilty conscience. Hell is not the grave. The rich man in Luke 16 said, “I am tormented in this flame.” He wanted his brothers to repent “lest they also come to this place of torment.” Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Repenting would not have kept his brothers from the grave, because all people die—but repenting would have kept them from Hell.

Hell is not just some spiritual state. The rich man in Hell knew he was not merely in some hazy, cloudy mixture of nothing, for he wanted his brothers warned lest they come to this PLACE. Hell is a real place, and its inhabitants suffer real torment. Consider the agony and imagine the anguish of that poor lost soul to whom a drop of water would have been a taste of heaven. Please, consider this intensely.  If you are not saved before you draw your last breath, this is your final destination! Do you have family you would "die" for yet you are leading them to hell? Children who have never heard about the Lord, because of your "changed" lifestyle and you "want them to make their own choices regarding Church, Bible, ~ all those things that were taught to you?"  You made your choice, but honestly your children don't have that same opportunity.  They don't go to church at all, listen to men of God preach the Word - they cannot "make a choice" if they have not been given the opportunity to make the choice of good or evil, May God forgive the day, when you stand before Him and are judged for your actions!

Even if you are not sure Hell is a place of torment—why needlessly take a chance? I have heard this story from the pulpit, and in my study; take heed my friend! Why take a chance!

A skeptic was teasing his Christian friend. He asked, “William, what would you say if when you die you found there wasn’t such a place as Heaven after all?” The Christian smiled and said, “I would say that I had a fine time getting there anyway.” Then the Christian companion shot back with a more difficult question: “Fred, what would you say, if when you die, you found there was such a place as Hell after all?” That’s a sensible question to think about, especially if you have been scoffing at the idea of eternal damnation in Hell.

It took the torments of Hell to turn the rich man’s thoughts toward God.  Are you going to hell? Are you sending your children to hell? Are you going to be like him? Are you going to wait until you are burning in Hell before you get concerned? The tragic fact is the harvest will be past, the summer ended, and it will be too late. God's marvelous grace of giving has been from the beginning.... and there is no end to His gift. Jesus already hung on that cross for us. He is the good we should strive for, teach our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to cling to. He is the most Righteous, and we can have His gift for the asking.  That's it. Just ask Jesus for his salvation on your life and then teach and train your children so that they can make a choice.

Solomon clearly shows us in these verses what the rewards are for the wicked and the righteous. I chose righteousness and the Saviour on August 13, 1968. I have taught my children, grandchildren and now will teach my great grandchildren the way of the cross.  I would NEVER want to go to heaven and leave one behind to face the torments of hell.  How about you? God's perfect "Gift", was given because of His love for us. His "Grace Giving" is the example we should all follow. Give the gift of salvation by sharing God's wonderful salvation through Jesus Christ to the one you love the most.  Don't go to heaven without them.

Lord, help us to be wise, studied up, aware, and faithful to You. Amen.

With love and prayers,
LKMilam
